Today at Marion Hills Bible Church we looked at the life of John the Baptist and how he explained to people that Christ must increase and he ( John)must decrease. We looked from the time of when Jesus had just cleaned out the temple in Jerusalem, and people were asking because Jesus and John were baptizing in two different places. They were asking John who’s baptism was better his or Jesus and John’s response was remember I said I am not the Messiah. I’m not the Christ , but he ( Jesus)is the Christ. John said I must decrease. Jesus must increase and he gave the reasons he said I’m an earthly person, and I can only speak from the Earth. He is from heaven above, and he can share what God has given him so as we continue, John was arrested shortly after that by Herod and put in prison and then within the next six months to a year, John sent some disciples to Jesus seeming to question if he was the Messiah, but I’ve been doing two things at one time one he could’ve been asking am I gonna get out of prison and two he was asking or trying to show to his disciples John’s own disciples that Jesus was Messiah . Jesus is response was a quote from Isaiah or a passage of Isaiah. Jesus said the lame walk dumb speak the deaf hear the blind see the dead are raised again and the poor hear the gospel. Isaiah continued, that he would set the captives free, but Jesus said, bless are those who suffer for my sake. I think he was signifying to John that he was not going to be released from prison, but also pointing out all the signs that Messiah was to do.
We don’t know for certain the time six months to a year after he was arrested. Herod was having a birthday party at which his stepdaughter danced for him, and the dance was so good that he promised her anything she wanted up to have the kingdom. She went and asked her mother what to ask for; her mother said, the head of John the Baptist. That is what she asked for, and they brought the head of John and brought his head and presented it to the girl on a platter and she took it, and presented it to her mother.
The lesson or the Takeaway that we get is what are we willing to do for Christ, no matter what the cost would be. Are we willing to share the gospel, the good news that Christ has come to save us, no matter what the cost.

Today, we reflected on two pivotal moments in Jesus' ministry, just before John the Baptist's arrest, marking the beginning of Jesus' main ministry. We saw Jesus' zeal for His Father's house shine forth during His first Passover, when He courageously cleansed the temple of the corrupt merchants and money changers. This bold act sparked a commotion, prompting the Jewish leaders to demand a sign of His authority. Jesus responded with a profound statement: 'Destroy this temple, and I will rebuild it in three days.' Though they misunderstood, thinking He referred to the physical temple, Jesus was speaking of His own body, foreshadowing His resurrection. Later, this statement would be twisted as an accusation against Him. As we transitioned to John chapter 3, we saw John the Baptist's humility shine as he baptized up near Samaria and the Jewish leaders questioned him about Jesus' growing popularity. John's response was a beautiful declaration of Jesus' supremacy: 'He must increase, and I must decrease.' He rejoiced in fulfilling his purpose, pointing others to Jesus, the source of eternal life. John's words echo eternally: if we believe in Jesus, we have eternal life; if not, we face eternal death. May we, like John, find joy in decreasing for the sake of Christ. Have a great weekend.

✝️Today we learned and looked at Genesis 1:11-13 talking about the third day & the creation of plants in the various types & kinds. One thing that was pointed out was that weeds were not involved in creation that came after the fall of man and sin in the garden was the ground cursed with thorns and thistles . We also looked at how the comparison of evolution to creation that according to evolution algae somehow washed up and survived and adapted on land and eventually became trees and flowers and all of those wonderful things and bearing fruit and flowering trees, and all of that ; the only problem being is that you need also at the same time bees and bugs and animals to carry the seeds and pollinate and all of those kinds of wonderful things. But according to evolution that did not happen so where did we get the bugs in the pollination and how did flowers without pollination continue to grow? You think about that & have a great day!😃😃

This week we looked at the Temptations of Jesus and how it was a legal battle as much as a personal battle. Legally , he was tempted the exact same way that Adam and Eve were in the garden. Personally, it was a trial to see if he would make bread, provide for himself, start his own ministry by casting himself off the temple pinnacle, or taking the world and being the king of the world without the price tag of dying. Each one of the his answers said that he was doing nothing without the help of the Father . He was setting the example for us to overcome sin is to depend on the Father for the strength and the power, and to give him the glory for the victories we have each and every day !

We looked at the baptism of Jesus Christ today comparing the gospels of Matthew, Mark Luke and John. John’s gospel does not actually talk about the baptism in itself. Matthew Mark, and Luke describe it as Jesus coming from Nazareth down by Jericho on the other side from Judah of the Jordan River, where John was baptizing. Matthew tells of an account that Jesus came in John tried to talk him out of it, and Jesus said, let it be for righteousness sake. Mark doesn’t give us a reason for the baptism but just simply says that Jesus was baptized. Luke tells us that as he came up out of the water he was praying. All three gospels and John record that the heavens, were opened, and the Holy Spirit descended in bodily form as a dove and rested up upon Jesus and God the Father says from his throne room in heaven this is my beloved son and whom I am well pleased. All three persons of the Trinity at one time in total union. What a beautiful picture from the heavenly throne room down to the man on earth, reaching their love and sharing it with us.
