This article is about the youth gathering my daughter recently attended. So good to read about the hope for the church our now and future young leaders have. God is still working in and through the UMC!

ANNOUNCEMENT: This Sunday, June 28th, we will be closing the service with a dedication of the newly planted weeping cherry tree to the memory of Mrs. Ann Astin.
We will also be celebrating the debt having been paid off from the Life Center.
Following the worship service, there will be a luncheon in the fellowship hall. The church will provide the meat and attendees are asked to bring a favorite side dish to share.
We look forward to seeing everyone there.

Two of our own featured today. Mike and Vickie, you’re in all of our prayers and we know how tough you are!

Our second Survivor Spotlight goes to Vickie Hughes, a 3 time cancer survivor!

My name is Vickie Hughes and I'm a 3 time cancer survivor. I have had 3 different types of cancer none of which is related to the other. I was first diagnosed with malignant melanoma in 1998. Fortunately it was stage one. I had it removed and no further treatment was needed.

Then in 2019 I was diagnosed with stage 2 breast cancer. I had a lumpectomy along with chemo and radiation. I have been breast cancer free since 2020.

I was diagnosed with stage 2 pancreatic cancer in October of 2023. It has spread which makes it a stage 4. I have undergone the whipple surgery and I'm still taking chemo. I feel decent most days but some days are tough.

I have signed up for numerous trial studies in hopes that maybe I can make a difference for someone else. I have a great support system with my husband, my children, family and friends. My church has played a big role in that. I put my trust in God as I know He knows what's best for me. I have no worries! Praise be to God!

The Danville Pittsylvania Cancer Association has helped me out a great deal. They have paid for numerous prescriptions that at the time I couldn't afford. They have paid for mileage to and from treatment, and they also help with overnight stays if needed. They offer assistance in a lot of ways. They are such an asset to our community.
