TWENTY-FOURTH SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME
What we receive from God makes us to be who we are; we cannot remain who we are unless we give it all away unreservedly. The gift of God most difficult to share and bestow upon another is forgiveness; yet, this gift is precisely the one of which all of us stand most in need. (Carroll Stuhlmueller, C.P.)

Season of Creation
“To care for creation is therefore an essential expression of Christian discipleship and an integral mark of the Church’s mission: to strive to safeguard the integrity of creation, and to sustain and renew the life of the earth.” ~Rev. & Right Honorable Dame Sarah Mullaly, Archbishop of Canterbury

Memorial of the Most Holy Name of Mary
At Jesus’ conception Mary’s good name (and her life) would be in jeopardy should it become known that she was pregnant while unmarried. Yet her name falls upon us today not as disgrace, but as all grace. Just speaking her name—often in the prayer “Hail Mary”—brings comfort to many who are troubled. Another traditional prayer, the Memorare, says, “never was it known that anyone who fled to your protection, implored your help, or sought your intercession was left unaided.” Call upon Mary. She has been there, and she hears you.

Season of Creation
“Although the challenges before us are enormous, God does not leave us without the means of healing and transformation. In place of the weapons of war, the God of peace grants us the strength to heal, to reconcile and to build a civilization of love. In this way, we are called to safeguard the many ‘ecosystems’ entrusted to us: the ecosystems of creation, of human relationships and of the human heart itself.” ~Pope Leo XIV

September 11, 2001 – September 11, 2026
Heroic acts of sacrifice and service shone through the darkness twenty-five years ago on September 11. Let us honor that spirit by supporting emergency responders, by uniting with one another to do good, and by being peacemakers in our world today.

Today is the anniversary of the founding of the Sisters of Saints Cyril and Methodius. In 1909 our founder, Father Matthew Jankola and our first three members, Sister Mary Mihalik, Sister Mary Joseph Bartek, and Sister Mary Emmanuel, sought to better serve Christ and the Church through this new Community. Our motto “Thy Kingdom Come” continues to direct and challenge us today. We strive to be a presence of Christ in the world through our vowed communal life, our spirit of prayerfulness and simplicity, and our joy in the service of the Kingdom. In the name of Jesus, Teacher and Healer, we reach out in compassion to the people of God in the ministries of evangelization, education, elder care, ecumenism, justice and peace, care for wounded families, and care for creation so that the gospel vision of the Kingdom may be fulfilled in us and in those we serve.

Season of Creation
The poor man of Assisi gives us a striking witness that when we are at peace with God we are better able to devote ourselves to building up that peace with all creation which is inseparable from peace among all peoples.
