Yesterday's Sermon: "Prayer for Pity"
Lamentations 2:19–22

What does faithful prayer look like when your world is falling apart?

In this week's sermon, Pastor Luke Hughes explores Lamentations 2:19–22 and the often-neglected biblical practice of lament. Far from being an expression of unbelief, biblical lament is the language of faith in the midst of suffering. It is the cry of God's people who refuse to run from Him, even when they do not understand His providence.

As Jerusalem lay in ruins, the faithful remnant was instructed to pour out their hearts before the Lord, pleading for His mercy and compassion. Their example teaches us that God invites His people to bring their grief, sorrow, confusion, and pain directly to Him in prayer.

If you have ever wrestled with suffering, loss, disappointment, or the seeming silence of God, this passage offers both honesty and hope.

We invite you to listen to the sermon and discover how biblical lament leads us not away from God, but deeper into dependence upon Him.

"Pour out your heart like water before the presence of the Lord." — Lamentations 2:19 (NASB95)

Yesterday at Edgewood Reformed Baptist, we continued our walk through Philippians with a sermon titled “The Timothy Principle” from Philippians 2:19–24.

True Christian ministry is not built on charisma alone, but on "proven worth". The church desperately needs men who are willing to invest in others, labor faithfully behind the scenes, and pursue Christ's interests above their own ambitions.

The Timothy Principle reminds us that discipleship is not accidental. Faithful Christians raise up faithful Christians. The gospel advances through ordinary believers who love Christ deeply, serve sacrificially, and remain steadfast in the work God has given them.

“for they all seek after their own interests, not those of Christ Jesus.” — Philippians 2:21 (NASB95)

Thankful for another Lord’s Day gathered around God’s Word with the saints.

— Pastor Luke

In this sermon, Pastor Luke examines what makes a "Timothy" and why he was the prototype for what Paul wanted in a Gospel partner.

In this sermon, Pastor Luke examines the paradox of the Christian life through the lens of Philippians 2:14–18. In "Pour Out and Rejoice," we explore the apostolic mandate to live without "grumbling or disputing"—a call that serves as a radical counter-cultural witness in a fractured world.

Pastor Luke unpacks how the Apostle Paul viewed his own life as a "drink offering," demonstrating that our greatest fulfillment is not found in self-preservation, but in being poured out for the sake of the Gospel.

📺 Watch the full exposition below. And we hope to see you next week at Edgewood!

In this sermon, Pastor Luke discusses servitude and how the pouring out of one's self is only possible by the filling of the Spirit
