This past Sunday in worship, we elevated our call to “love one another” through our faith, action, and solidarity with our LGBTQ+ siblings.PRIDE summons us into joy as resistance—remembrance, resilience, and communal flourishing. We are summoned to this pivotal moment—a season that calls us to reckon honestly with the present and renew our commitment to a more just and liberated future.

Across faiths, identities, and nations, we proclaim a truth older than any constitution and deeper than any border:
Every person is sacred.
Every life is woven with inherent worth and dignity.

We also had the joy of welcoming new members into our DCC Community and made these promises of committment to them:
PROMISES FROM THE CHURCH
One: Now, to the members of the DCC Community:
Do you promise to help these new members find their place
in the body of Christ, to pray with and for them,
to welcome them fully in holy friendship,
to be angels for them in times of distress and
servants to them in times of need?
Congregation: We promise, with the help of God.
One: Every person who enters our fellowship makes their own
particular mark on it and strengthens it.
Do you promise, even as you share our time-honored traditions,
to listen closely for the voice of the Still-Speaking God and
to welcome the gifts of those joining this community?
Congregation: We promise, with the help of God

🙏🏾 Loving Creator,

Help us breathe in your love and exhale your compassion.

Help us to drink in your water of life and share it with our world.

Help us to take your hand and lay your healing on a broken world and, in gratitude, help us to embrace a peace that passes all understanding.

Hallelujah!

We’re absolutely reeling from the incredible day of celebrations today in Danville! 🌈🌈
What a joy to be out in the community, sharing our radical welcome for all LGBTQI+ folx, their families and friends. We met so many wonderful people and enjoyed rich conversations and new connections. We heard resounding delight and support of the event and what it means to live in the Town of Danville and be able to have this public event on the green!

Thank you to the Town of Danville, especially Melysa Vander Mel and Mayor for your leadership and support of this event. It has been so good to partner with you.
Thanks to our co-hosts for their dedication, skills, talents and belief in this event - PFLAG Danville-San Ramon Valley , Discovery Counseling and San Ramon Valley Diversity Coalition and all the volunteers who made this event happen. Pastor Todd was a wonderful emcee for the many presenters who shared their stories, their work, and their deep knowledge.
Thank you to the community, young and old, who came out to enjoy the day, to learn and to feel safe and seen. We love you all. Happy Pride!!

This Sunday is MUSIC SUNDAY! As we celebrate Pride this month at DCC, we also celebrate Juneteenth. Throughout June, we’ll find moments in our services to uplift and honor the LGBTQ+ and Black communities in our country. For our musical offering this Sunday, the DCC Chancel Choir is excited to share with you a set of six African American spirituals, with special tenor soloist Taylor Thompson, guest singers from Chora Nova, AND our DCC Handbells!
The six spirituals we’ll sing this Sunday represent the wide range of expression found in this treasured musical genre. We will showcase tried and true arrangements by William Dawson and more recent ones by Moses Hogan. The frequent solos found throughout these works will be sung by tenor Taylor Thompson, a member of the San Francisco Opera Chorus who has also sung numerous opera roles throughout the Bay Area. Our congregational hymns Sunday morning will also be spirituals, so you will all get to join in as well—plus our Handbell Director Janis Jang will lead our wonderful Celebration Bells to bookend this celebratory and fun service!

As Pastor Todd said last Sunday, our sermon this week will be the singing of these gospel songs!
Come join us for a fantastic musical experience, led by our conductor John Kendall Bailey. Service is at 9.30am in person or online. Link in the bio!
