James 1:26 talks about people who "think they are religious" but cannot control what they say. How can you double-check your own life to make sure your actions match your words?

What is one specific situation this week —like texting, talking with family, or hanging out with friends — where it will be hardest to control your tongue? What is your game plan to pause before you speak?

The verse says that someone who speaks without thinking has a worthless religion. Why do you think hurting people with our words makes our faith look fake to the outside world?

Think about the last time you helped around the house, volunteered, or served at church. Were you doing it with "gladness," or were you dragging your feet and complaining under your breath? What causes your heart to switch from being happy to being grumpy when it is time to help?

Think about the songs you listen to the most on your phone or in the car. Do those songs make you feel angry, stressed, or closer to God? How can you use worship music this week to change your mood when you are having a bad day?

When you first wake up and get ready for the day, what is your typical mindset? How would your day change if your very first thought was a quick "thank you" prayer or a joyful song to God?

It is easy to let worry take over our minds before we even notice it. How can you catch yourself worrying early in the day so you can stop and talk to God instead?

The Bible says to pray about every situation. Do you usually try to fix your problems on your own first, or do you take them to God right away?

Why do you think God wants us to be thankful even when we are stressed out or going through a tough time? How does remembering good things change the way you look at your problems?

When you give a worry to God in prayer, do you tend to take it right back and keep stressing? What can you do to truly leave that worry with Him?

Think about when you help out at home, at church, or in your community. Are you doing those things because you truly love people? Or are you just doing them out of habit, because you feel forced to, or to make yourself look good?

Faith and hope are important for this life. However, they will be completely fulfilled when we see God face-to-face. Love is different because it lasts forever. How does knowing that love never ends change the way you treat people today?

What would change in your family, your church, or your friend group if everyone agreed on one thing? Imagine if everyone decided that loving each other was way more important than winning an argument or having the best ideas.

When someone hurts you, ignores you, or treats you unfairly, what do you usually do first — try to get revenge, ignore them back, or let it go? Why is it so tempting to want to get even?

Paul doesn't just tell us to stop being mean; he says to always try to do good. What is one kind thing you can actually do this week for someone who has annoyed or hurt you?

Paul says to do good to everyone, not just your close friends or people at church. Who is someone outside your group, or someone who is hard to get along with, that you can be nice to this week?

Proverbs 17:17
A true friend loves regardless of the situation, and a real brother exists to share the tough times.

Psalm 25:14
ONLY those who stand in awe of the Eternal will have intimacy with Him, and He will reveal His covenant to them.

John 15:13-15
Jesus: “There is no greater way to love than to give your life for your friends. You celebrate our friendship if you obey this command. I don’t call you servants any longer; servants don’t know what the master is doing, but I have told you everything the Father has said to Me. I call you friends.’

Romans 5:10-11
While we were God’s enemies, he made us his friends through the death of his Son. Surely, now that we are his friends, he will save us through his Son’s life. And not only that, but now we are also very happy in God through our Lord Jesus Christ. Through him we are now God’s friends again.

THE TRUEST FRIEND

No earthly bond can match the friend we claim,
Who knows our deepest grief and calls our name.
A brother born to share our darkest night (Proverbs 17:17),
He leads our searching hearts into His light.

In quiet grace His secret wisdom speaks,
Unfolding covenant truth to one who seeks (Psalm 25:14).
He calls us not as servants bound by fear,
But invites us close to whisper in His ear (John 15:15).

No greater love could human heart conceive,
Than giving life so sinners might believe (John 15:13).
While we were enemies, estranged and lost,
He bought our peace at Calvary’s heavy cost (Romans 5:10).

Now reconciled, our distant fears are gone;
Through Him our joy and hope carry on (Romans 5:11).
The faithful companion who gives us second birth,
The truest, nearest friend in heaven or earth.
