Eric's discourse :The best way to not spook a horse.
1. Approach slowly and indirectly. Since horses are prey animals, they will see this is non aggressive. Also don't stare into there eyes.
2
Speak to them in a soft tone. Be in a calm sense if being brings confidence and calm energy. Also they feel recognized.
3. Don't immediately touch them. Wait for an invasion. If you don't get one, don't touch them. If you get one, and you'll know when let them guide you ot just start to scratch slowly their withers ( base of there neck) .
4. Don't immediately scold them when they act up or be defiant. Horses don't have the capacity for revenge. See first if somethings bothering them. Is the girth on right and installed. Is they experiencing pain in any way? Something spook them? Find out and be mindful.
5. Horses need maintenance and a consistency of calm visits. Hooves trimmed and cleaned, regular check ups with the vetinarian. Groomed slowly and mindfully. Talk to your horse. They are beings too. They may not understand your word but they can sense your will and nervous system. You can't fake it. They can tell if are.
6. Be consistent. Feed them regularly at mostly the same time. Have a regular schedule and so they know what to expect.
7. Hover with your horse. Set some time to relax and not expecting any work from them. Let them graze, play, see other horsrs and sleep if they need it. Sit near them and enjoy each other's company.
8. leave on a positive action. Say positive words and a positive demeanor. They will remember this.
All this also goes for other humans and animals as well. These actions will make you a more friendly person to be around...
