We're throwing a birthday party! Featuring live music, schmoozing, food, and beverages!

Did you know Temple Beth Israel (TBI) is turning 75?!

Before there was TBI Preservation Society, our historic building served Temple Beth Israel's congregation of largely immigrant families, welcomed by a small long-standing Jewish community. Built with the support of primarily Christian neighbors, Temple Beth Israel Preservation Society continues to open its doors to everyone through entertainment, educational, and ritual events.

Come celebrate with us!

A celebratory evening of music, friendship, and a nosh in honor of Temple Beth Israel's 75th anniversary.

Statement of Congratulations on the Elevation of Pope Leo XIV

We extend our heartfelt congratulations to Pope Leo XIV on his elevation to the papacy. As a Jewish organization committed to justice, compassion, and interfaith collaboration, we are heartened by his long-standing commitment to social justice, care for the poor, environmental stewardship, and the deepening of interreligious dialogue.

In a world urgently in need of moral clarity and collective action, we are hopeful that Pope Leo XIV will be a powerful voice for the dignity of all people, the protection of our planet, and the pursuit of peace across faiths and nations. We look forward to the continued strengthening of Jewish–Catholic relations and to working in shared purpose to advance equity, human rights, and the common good.

May his leadership bring wisdom, courage, and healing in the years ahead.

Temple Beth Israel Celebrates 75th Anniversary with Yearlong Series of Special Events

Danielson, CT – Temple Beth Israel, an historic cornerstone of the Jewish community in northeastern Connecticut, proudly announces the celebration of its 75th anniversary in 2025. The milestone will be honored with a robust calendar of events, bringing together the community in a spirit of reflection, celebration, and interfaith collaboration.

Founded in response to the arrival of Holocaust survivors in the years following World War II, Temple Beth Israel transformed a small Jewish presence in Danielson from just 10 families to nearly 70. For the past 15 years, the Temple Beth Israel Preservation Society – comprised of many children and grandchildren of the Temple’s original founder – has operated the synagogue as a hub for education, social justice programming, and historic preservation with its mission to safeguard the incredible stories of its founding families and ensure the Temple remains a vibrant part of the community.

A YEAR OF CELEBRATION

The 75th-anniversary observance will feature a rich variety of events throughout the year, including:

* 15th Annual Interfaith Community Passover Seder – Let All Who Are Hungry – on 4/6/25
* Rhythm Rendezvous Concert Series, featuring world renowned jazz legend Greg Abate and his All-Star Quintet, including Phil Palonen, Diamond Centofanti, Lou Bocciarelli, and Zac Casher on 5/3/25
* High Holiday Services – September/October
* Gala 75th Anniversary Celebration – October
* 70th Annual Interfaith Thanksgiving Service – November

“Temple Beth Israel’s legacy is one of resilience, faith, and community,” said Preservation Society president, Norman Berman. “As we mark 75 years, we not only honor our past but also reaffirm our commitment to interfaith dialogue, cultural enrichment, and social justice.”

Since its founding, Temple Beth Israel has been more than a place of worship—it has been a home for education, interfaith understanding, and community action. All are welcome to join in this year of celebration. For more information about events or to learn more about the history of Temple Beth Israel, visit www.tbipreservation.org.
