Today’s scripture reading:
1 John 5:1-12

1Everyone who believes that Jesus is the Christ has been born of God, and everyone who loves the Father also loves those born of Him.a 2By this we know that we love the children of God: when we love God and keep His commandments. 3For this is the love of God, that we keep His commandments. And His commandments are not burdensome, 4because everyone born of God overcomes the world. And this is the victory that has overcome the world: our faith.
5Who then overcomes the world? Only he who believes that Jesus is the Son of God. 6This is the One who came by water and blood, Jesus Christ—not by water alone, but by water and blood. And it is the Spirit who testifies to this, because the Spirit is the truth. 7For there are three that testify:b 8the Spirit, the water, and the blood—and these three are in agreement.
9Even if we accept human testimony, the testimony of God is greater. For this is the testimony that God has given about His Son. 10Whoever believes in the Son of God has this testimony within him; whoever does not believe God has made Him out to be a liar, because he has not believed in the testimony that God has given about His Son.
11And this is that testimony: God has given us eternal life, and this life is in His Son. 12Whoever has the Son has life; whoever does not have the Son of God does not have life.

Today’s scripture reading:
Psalm 119:33-40

33Teach me, Lord, the way of your decrees,
that I may follow it to the end. b
34Give me understanding, so that I may keep your law
and obey it with all my heart.
35Direct me in the path of your commands,
for there I find delight.
36Turn my heart toward your statutes
and not toward selfish gain.
37Turn my eyes away from worthless things;
preserve my life according to your word. c
38Fulfill your promise to your servant,
so that you may be feared.
39Take away the disgrace I dread,
for your laws are good.
40How I long for your precepts!
In your righteousness preserve my life.

Scripture readings for the day

Deuteronomy 30

Deu 30:15 See, I set before you today life and prosperity, death and destruction.

Deu 30:16 For I command you today to love the LORD your God, to walk in his ways, and to keep his commands, decrees and laws; then you will live and increase, and the LORD your God will bless you in the land you are entering to possess.

Deu 30:17 But if your heart turns away and you are not obedient, and if you are drawn away to bow down to other gods and worship them,

Deu 30:18 I declare to you this day that you will certainly be destroyed. You will not live long in the land you are crossing the Jordan to enter and possess.

Deu 30:19 This day I call heaven and earth as witnesses against you that I have set before you life and death, blessings and curses. Now choose life, so that you and your children may live

Deu 30:20 and that you may love the LORD your God, listen to his voice, and hold fast to him. For the LORD is your life, and he will give you many years in the land he swore to give to your fathers, Abraham, Isaac and Jacob.

Psalm 119

Psa 119:1 Blessed are they whose ways are blameless, who walk according to the law of the LORD.

Psa 119:2 Blessed are they who keep his statutes and seek him with all their heart.

Psa 119:3 They do nothing wrong; they walk in his ways.

Psa 119:4 You have laid down precepts that are to be fully obeyed.

Psa 119:5 Oh, that my ways were steadfast in obeying your decrees!

Psa 119:6 Then I would not be put to shame when I consider all your commands.

Psa 119:7 I will praise you with an upright heart as I learn your righteous laws.

Psa 119:8 I will obey your decrees; do not utterly forsake me.

1 Corinthians 3

1Co 3:1 Brothers, I could not address you as spiritual but as worldly--mere infants in Christ.

1Co 3:2 I gave you milk, not solid food, for you were not yet ready for it. Indeed, you are still not ready.

1Co 3:3 You are still worldly. For since there is jealousy and quarreling among you, are you not worldly? Are you not acting like mere men?

1Co 3:4 For when one says, "I follow Paul," and another, "I follow Apollos," are you not mere men?

1Co 3:5 What, after all, is Apollos? And what is Paul? Only servants, through whom you came to believe--as the Lord has assigned to each his task.

1Co 3:6 I planted the seed, Apollos watered it, but God made it grow.

1Co 3:7 So neither he who plants nor he who waters is anything, but only God, who makes things grow.

1Co 3:8 The man who plants and the man who waters have one purpose, and each will be rewarded according to his own labor.

1Co 3:9 For we are God's fellow workers; you are God's field, God's building.

Matthew 5

Mat 5:21 "You have heard that it was said to the people long ago, 'Do not murder, and anyone who murders will be subject to judgment.'

Mat 5:22 But I tell you that anyone who is angry with his brother will be subject to judgment. Again, anyone who says to his brother, 'Raca,' is answerable to the Sanhedrin. But anyone who says, 'You fool!' will be in danger of the fire of hell.

Mat 5:23 "Therefore, if you are offering your gift at the altar and there remember that your brother has something against you,

Mat 5:24 leave your gift there in front of the altar. First go and be reconciled to your brother; then come and offer your gift.

Mat 5:25 "Settle matters quickly with your adversary who is taking you to court. Do it while you are still with him on the way, or he may hand you over to the judge, and the judge may hand you over to the officer, and you may be thrown into prison.

Mat 5:26 I tell you the truth, you will not get out until you have paid the last penny.

Mat 5:27 "You have heard that it was said, 'Do not commit adultery.'

Mat 5:28 But I tell you that anyone who looks at a woman lustfully has already committed adultery with her in his heart.

Mat 5:29 If your right eye causes you to sin, gouge it out and throw it away. It is better for you to lose one part of your body than for your whole body to be thrown into hell.

Mat 5:30 And if your right hand causes you to sin, cut it off and throw it away. It is better for you to lose one part of your body than for your whole body to go into hell.

Mat 5:31 "It has been said, 'Anyone who divorces his wife must give her a certificate of divorce.'

Mat 5:32 But I tell you that anyone who divorces his wife, except for marital unfaithfulness, causes her to become an adulteress, and anyone who marries the divorced woman commits adultery.

Mat 5:33 "Again, you have heard that it was said to the people long ago, 'Do not break your oath, but keep the oaths you have made to the Lord.'

Mat 5:34 But I tell you, Do not swear at all: either by heaven, for it is God's throne;

Mat 5:35 or by the earth, for it is his footstool; or by Jerusalem, for it is the city of the Great King.

Mat 5:36 And do not swear by your head, for you cannot make even one hair white or black.

Mat 5:37 Simply let your 'Yes' be 'Yes,' and your 'No,' 'No'; anything beyond this comes from the evil one.

Scripture readings for the day

Isaiah 58

Isa 58:1 "Shout it aloud, do not hold back. Raise your voice like a trumpet. Declare to my people their rebellion and to the house of Jacob their sins.

Isa 58:2 For day after day they seek me out; they seem eager to know my ways, as if they were a nation that does what is right and has not forsaken the commands of its God. They ask me for just decisions and seem eager for God to come near them.

Isa 58:3 'Why have we fasted,' they say, 'and you have not seen it? Why have we humbled ourselves, and you have not noticed?' "Yet on the day of your fasting, you do as you please and exploit all your workers.

Isa 58:4 Your fasting ends in quarreling and strife, and in striking each other with wicked fists. You cannot fast as you do today and expect your voice to be heard on high.

Isa 58:5 Is this the kind of fast I have chosen, only a day for a man to humble himself? Is it only for bowing one's head like a reed and for lying on sackcloth and ashes? Is that what you call a fast, a day acceptable to the LORD?

Isa 58:6 "Is not this the kind of fasting I have chosen: to loose the chains of injustice and untie the cords of the yoke, to set the oppressed free and break every yoke?

Isa 58:7 Is it not to share your food with the hungry and to provide the poor wanderer with shelter--when you see the naked, to clothe him, and not to turn away from your own flesh and blood?

Isa 58:8 Then your light will break forth like the dawn, and your healing will quickly appear; then your righteousness will go before you, and the glory of the LORD will be your rear guard.

Isa 58:9 Then you will call, and the LORD will answer; you will cry for help, and he will say: Here am I. "If you do away with the yoke of oppression, with the pointing finger and malicious talk,

Psalm 112

Psa 112:1 Praise the LORD. Blessed is the man who fears the LORD, who finds great delight in his commands.

Psa 112:2 His children will be mighty in the land; the generation of the upright will be blessed.

Psa 112:3 Wealth and riches are in his house, and his righteousness endures forever.

Psa 112:4 Even in darkness light dawns for the upright, for the gracious and compassionate and righteous man.

Psa 112:5 Good will come to him who is generous and lends freely, who conducts his affairs with justice.

Psa 112:6 Surely he will never be shaken; a righteous man will be remembered forever.

Psa 112:7 He will have no fear of bad news; his heart is steadfast, trusting in the LORD.

Psa 112:8 His heart is secure, he will have no fear; in the end he will look in triumph on his foes.

Psa 112:9 He has scattered abroad his gifts to the poor, his righteousness endures forever; his horn will be lifted high in honor.

1 Corinthians 2

1Co 2:1 When I came to you, brothers, I did not come with eloquence or superior wisdom as I proclaimed to you the testimony about God.

1Co 2:2 For I resolved to know nothing while I was with you except Jesus Christ and him crucified.

1Co 2:3 I came to you in weakness and fear, and with much trembling.

1Co 2:4 My message and my preaching were not with wise and persuasive words, but with a demonstration of the Spirit's power,

1Co 2:5 so that your faith might not rest on men's wisdom, but on God's power.

1Co 2:6 We do, however, speak a message of wisdom among the mature, but not the wisdom of this age or of the rulers of this age, who are coming to nothing.

1Co 2:7 No, we speak of God's secret wisdom, a wisdom that has been hidden and that God destined for our glory before time began.

1Co 2:8 None of the rulers of this age understood it, for if they had, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory.

1Co 2:9 However, as it is written: "No eye has seen, no ear has heard, no mind has conceived what God has prepared for those who love him"--

1Co 2:10 but God has revealed it to us by his Spirit. The Spirit searches all things, even the deep things of God.

1Co 2:11 For who among men knows the thoughts of a man except the man's spirit within him? In the same way no one knows the thoughts of God except the Spirit of God.

1Co 2:12 We have not received the spirit of the world but the Spirit who is from God, that we may understand what God has freely given us.

Matthew 5

Mat 5:13 "You are the salt of the earth. But if the salt loses its saltiness, how can it be made salty again? It is no longer good for anything, except to be thrown out and trampled by men.

Mat 5:14 "You are the light of the world. A city on a hill cannot be hidden.

Mat 5:15 Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house.

Mat 5:16 In the same way, let your light shine before men, that they may see your good deeds and praise your Father in heaven.

Mat 5:17 "Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I have not come to abolish them but to fulfill them.

Mat 5:18 I tell you the truth, until heaven and earth disappear, not the smallest letter, not the least stroke of a pen, will by any means disappear from the Law until everything is accomplished.

Mat 5:19 Anyone who breaks one of the least of these commandments and teaches others to do the same will be called least in the kingdom of heaven, but whoever practices and teaches these commands will be called great in the kingdom of heaven.

Mat 5:20 For I tell you that unless your righteousness surpasses that of the Pharisees and the teachers of the law, you will certainly not enter the kingdom of heaven.

Scripture readings for the day

Micah 6

Mic 6:1 Listen to what the LORD says: "Stand up, plead your case before the mountains; let the hills hear what you have to say.

Mic 6:2 Hear, O mountains, the LORD'S accusation; listen, you everlasting foundations of the earth. For the LORD has a case against his people; he is lodging a charge against Israel.

Mic 6:3 "My people, what have I done to you? How have I burdened you? Answer me.

Mic 6:4 I brought you up out of Egypt and redeemed you from the land of slavery. I sent Moses to lead you, also Aaron and Miriam.

Mic 6:5 My people, remember what Balak king of Moab counseled and what Balaam son of Beor answered. Remember your journey from Sh*ttim to Gilgal, that you may know the righteous acts of the LORD."

Mic 6:6 With what shall I come before the LORD and bow down before the exalted God? Shall I come before him with burnt offerings, with calves a year old?

Mic 6:7 Will the LORD be pleased with thousands of rams, with ten thousand rivers of oil? Shall I offer my firstborn for my transgression, the fruit of my body for the sin of my soul?

Mic 6:8 He has showed you, O man, what is good. And what does the LORD require of you? To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God.

Psalm 15

Psa 15:1 LORD, who may dwell in your sanctuary? Who may live on your holy hill?

Psa 15:2 He whose walk is blameless and who does what is righteous, who speaks the truth from his heart

Psa 15:3 and has no slander on his tongue, who does his neighbor no wrong and casts no slur on his fellowman,

Psa 15:4 who despises a vile man but honors those who fear the LORD, who keeps his oath even when it hurts,

Psa 15:5 who lends his money without usury and does not accept a bribe against the innocent. He who does these things will never be shaken.

1 Corinthians 1

1Co 1:18 For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God.

1Co 1:19 For it is written: "I will destroy the wisdom of the wise; the intelligence of the intelligent I will frustrate."

1Co 1:20 Where is the wise man? Where is the scholar? Where is the philosopher of this age? Has not God made foolish the wisdom of the world?

1Co 1:21 For since in the wisdom of God the world through its wisdom did not know him, God was pleased through the foolishness of what was preached to save those who believe.

1Co 1:22 Jews demand miraculous signs and Greeks look for wisdom,

1Co 1:23 but we preach Christ crucified: a stumbling block to Jews and foolishness to Gentiles,

1Co 1:24 but to those whom God has called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God and the wisdom of God.

1Co 1:25 For the foolishness of God is wiser than man's wisdom, and the weakness of God is stronger than man's strength.

1Co 1:26 Brothers, think of what you were when you were called. Not many of you were wise by human standards; not many were influential; not many were of noble birth.

1Co 1:27 But God chose the foolish things of the world to shame the wise; God chose the weak things of the world to shame the strong.

1Co 1:28 He chose the lowly things of this world and the despised things--and the things that are not--to nullify the things that are,

1Co 1:29 so that no one may boast before him.

1Co 1:30 It is because of him that you are in Christ Jesus, who has become for us wisdom from God--that is, our righteousness, holiness and redemption.

1Co 1:31 Therefore, as it is written: "Let him who boasts boast in the Lord."

Matthew 5

Mat 5:1 Now when he saw the crowds, he went up on a mountainside and sat down. His disciples came to him,

Mat 5:2 and he began to teach them, saying:

Mat 5:3 "Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

Mat 5:4 Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted.

Mat 5:5 Blessed are the meek, for they will inherit the earth.

Mat 5:6 Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be filled.

Mat 5:7 Blessed are the merciful, for they will be shown mercy.

Mat 5:8 Blessed are the pure in heart, for they will see God.

Mat 5:9 Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called sons of God.

Mat 5:10 Blessed are those who are persecuted because of righteousness, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

Mat 5:11 "Blessed are you when people insult you, persecute you and falsely say all kinds of evil against you because of me.

Mat 5:12 Rejoice and be glad, because great is your reward in heaven, for in the same way they persecuted the prophets who were before you.

Dearest Church family,

We have had some challenges trying to maintain and respond to many who have used the multiple pages.

We first expanded and created the Danielson Nazarene Connect due to covid and as we went live on our Sunday services on FB. Unfortunately this is now turning out to be a big challenge.

Moving forward, we would like to consolidate all our FB groups back to just the Danielson Church of the Nazarene group and use this as the primary FB group to televise our Sunday service and church notifications.

The link
https://www.facebook.com/OfficialDanielsonChurchoftheNazarenePage?mibextid=LQQJ4d

Please kindly follow, join and spread the word to our extended church family.

We are going to allow for a couple of weeks for the changeover. The other groups will still remain operational but will not be updated and eventually removed to avoid long term confusion.

Thank you all for your attention, understanding, and your help.

God Bless 🙏

Scripture readings for the day

Isaiah 9

Isa 9:1 Nevertheless, there will be no more gloom for those who were in distress. In the past he humbled the land of Zebulun and the land of Naphtali, but in the future he will honor Galilee of the Gentiles, by the way of the sea, along the Jordan--

Isa 9:2 The people walking in darkness have seen a great light; on those living in the land of the shadow of death a light has dawned.

Isa 9:3 You have enlarged the nation and increased their joy; they rejoice before you as people rejoice at the harvest, as men rejoice when dividing the plunder.

Isa 9:4 For as in the day of Midian's defeat, you have shattered the yoke that burdens them, the bar across their shoulders, the rod of their oppressor.

Psalm 27

Psa 27:1 The LORD is my light and my salvation--whom shall I fear? The LORD is the stronghold of my life--of whom shall I be afraid?

Psa 27:4 One thing I ask of the LORD, this is what I seek: that I may dwell in the house of the LORD all the days of my life, to gaze upon the beauty of the LORD and to seek him in his temple.

Psa 27:5 For in the day of trouble he will keep me safe in his dwelling; he will hide me in the shelter of his tabernacle and set me high upon a rock.

Psa 27:6 Then my head will be exalted above the enemies who surround me; at his tabernacle will I sacrifice with shouts of joy; I will sing and make music to the LORD.

Psa 27:7 Hear my voice when I call, O LORD; be merciful to me and answer me.

Psa 27:8 My heart says of you, "Seek his face!" Your face, LORD, I will seek.

Psa 27:9 Do not hide your face from me, do not turn your servant away in anger; you have been my helper. Do not reject me or forsake me, O God my Savior.
1 Corinthians 1

1Co 1:10 I appeal to you, brothers, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that all of you agree with one another so that there may be no divisions among you and that you may be perfectly united in mind and thought.

1Co 1:11 My brothers, some from Chloe's household have informed me that there are quarrels among you.

1Co 1:12 What I mean is this: One of you says, "I follow Paul"; another, "I follow Apollos"; another, "I follow Cephas"; still another, "I follow Christ."

1Co 1:13 Is Christ divided? Was Paul crucified for you? Were you baptized into the name of Paul?

1Co 1:14 I am thankful that I did not baptize any of you except Crispus and Gaius,

1Co 1:15 so no one can say that you were baptized into my name.

1Co 1:16 (Yes, I also baptized the household of Stephanas; beyond that, I don't remember if I baptized anyone else.)

1Co 1:17 For Christ did not send me to baptize, but to preach the gospel--not with words of human wisdom, lest the cross of Christ be emptied of its power.

1Co 1:18 For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God.

Matthew 4

Mat 4:12 When Jesus heard that John had been put in prison, he returned to Galilee.

Mat 4:13 Leaving Nazareth, he went and lived in Capernaum, which was by the lake in the area of Zebulun and Naphtali--

Mat 4:14 to fulfill what was said through the prophet Isaiah:

Mat 4:15 "Land of Zebulun and land of Naphtali, the way to the sea, along the Jordan, Galilee of the Gentiles--

Mat 4:16 the people living in darkness have seen a great light; on those living in the land of the shadow of death a light has dawned."

Mat 4:17 From that time on Jesus began to preach, "Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is near."

Mat 4:18 As Jesus was walking beside the Sea of Galilee, he saw two brothers, Simon called Peter and his brother Andrew. They were casting a net into the lake, for they were fishermen.

Mat 4:19 "Come, follow me," Jesus said, "and I will make you fishers of men."

Mat 4:20 At once they left their nets and followed him.

Mat 4:21 Going on from there, he saw two other brothers, James son of Zebedee and his brother John. They were in a boat with their father Zebedee, preparing their nets. Jesus called them,

Mat 4:22 and immediately they left the boat and their father and followed him.

Mat 4:23 Jesus went throughout Galilee, teaching in their synagogues, preaching the good news of the kingdom, and healing every disease and sickness among the people.

Scripture reading for the day

Ruth 1

Rut 1:1 In the days when the judges ruled, there was a famine in the land, and a man from Bethlehem in Judah, together with his wife and two sons, went to live for a while in the country of Moab.

Rut 1:2 The man's name was Elimelech, his wife's name Naomi, and the names of his two sons were Mahlon and Kilion. They were Ephrathites from Bethlehem, Judah. And they went to Moab and lived there.

Rut 1:3 Now Elimelech, Naomi's husband, died, and she was left with her two sons.

Rut 1:4 They married Moabite women, one named Orpah and the other Ruth. After they had lived there about ten years,

Rut 1:5 both Mahlon and Kilion also died, and Naomi was left without her two sons and her husband.

Rut 1:6 When she heard in Moab that the LORD had come to the aid of his people by providing food for them, Naomi and her daughters-in-law prepared to return home from there.

Rut 1:7 With her two daughters-in-law she left the place where she had been living and set out on the road that would take them back to the land of Judah.

Rut 1:8 Then Naomi said to her two daughters-in-law, "Go back, each of you, to your mother's home. May the LORD show kindness to you, as you have shown to your dead and to me.

Rut 1:9 May the LORD grant that each of you will find rest in the home of another husband." Then she kissed them and they wept aloud

Rut 1:10 and said to her, "We will go back with you to your people."

Rut 1:11 But Naomi said, "Return home, my daughters. Why would you come with me? Am I going to have any more sons, who could become your husbands?

Rut 1:12 Return home, my daughters; I am too old to have another husband. Even if I thought there was still hope for me--even if I had a husband tonight and then gave birth to sons--

Rut 1:13 would you wait until they grew up? Would you remain unmarried for them? No, my daughters. It is more bitter for me than for you, because the LORD'S hand has gone out against me!"

Rut 1:14 At this they wept again. Then Orpah kissed her mother-in-law good-by, but Ruth clung to her.

Rut 1:15 "Look," said Naomi, "your sister-in-law is going back to her people and her gods. Go back with her."

Rut 1:16 But Ruth replied, "Don't urge me to leave you or to turn back from you. Where you go I will go, and where you stay I will stay. Your people will be my people and your God my God.

Rut 1:17 Where you die I will die, and there I will be buried. May the LORD deal with me, be it ever so severely, if anything but death separates you and me."

Rut 1:18 When Naomi realized that Ruth was determined to go with her, she stopped urging her.

Rut 1:19 So the two women went on until they came to Bethlehem. When they arrived in Bethlehem, the whole town was stirred because of them, and the women exclaimed, "Can this be Naomi?"

Rut 1:20 "Don't call me Naomi," she told them. "Call me Mara, because the Almighty has made my life very bitter.

Rut 1:21 I went away full, but the LORD has brought me back empty. Why call me Naomi? The LORD has afflicted me; the Almighty has brought misfortune upon me."

Rut 1:22 So Naomi returned from Moab accompanied by Ruth the Moabitess, her daughter-in-law, arriving in Bethlehem as the barley harvest was beginning.
