St. Ruth is celebrating Cancer Awareness during the month of October. Theme is give cancer the BOOT!! Special guest today is survivor and 2018 Pink Angel Award recipient; Carolyn Newman; who has spent countless hours and dedication to helping women with Breast Cancer. Rev. J.C. Howard is Pastor. Carolyn "CJ" Jones is president of the Cancer Ministry. There are many survivors and dedicated caregivers in St. Ruth Missionary Baptist Church. The men were asked to wear something pink in celebration of cancer awareness.

We are once again celebrating cancer awareness at St. Ruth. The theme for 2017 is "cancer is more than a ribbon". On Sunday October 1st, Congresswoman Debbie Schultz was our special guest. It was an exciting heartfelt emotional service. We honored three survivors. Sulie Spencer, Rose Lizana and Bernice Ned. Congresswoman presented each survivor with orchards and a congressional proclamation. They were also given a beautiful pink hatbox of goodies donated by our partner; Memorial Healthcare. This month will be filled with motivational speakers, informational handouts, and survivors sharing their stories. The men in the church wore pink ties. The month long events will conclude with a walk for the cure on Saturday, October 28th.
