St. Anthony de Padua Catholic Church

St. Anthony de Padua Catholic Church The History of St. Anthony de Padua In 1911 Fr. Mary, Star of the Sea in Freeport. Fr. Elmendorf, and later Fr. Coffee, commuted from St. F.J. Today St.

Montreuil journeyed from the town of Bay City to celebrate the Eucharist for the first time in the home of Thomas Walker. He continued his practice in the homes of serveral Danbury families until 1926 when Danbury was estabilished as a mission of St. Mary's to provide Sunday masses. The first church building was erected in 1930. It was one-half of a reconstructed, discarded public school building,

but it was destroyed by a hurrricane in 1932. The parishioners quickly built another church the same year which was destroyed by fire in 1944. For the next five years the faithful continued services in a rice warehouse donated by Jack Garrett. Dobias was named the first full-time pastor in 1945 and was consecrated in the construction of a new church which was consecrated in 1949. Anthony's continues to thrive with three masses each weekend and 350 registered families.

In the name of our Lord Jesus Christ I will begin this day.

I thank you, Lord, for having preserved me during the night. I will do my best to make all I do today pleasing to You and in accordance with Your will. My dear Mother Mary, watch over me this day. My Guardian Angel, take care of me. St. Joseph and all you saints of God, pray for me.

O Jesus, through the Immaculate Heart of Mary, I offer You my prayers, works, joys and sufferings of this day for all the intentions of Your Sacred Heart, in union with the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass throughout the world, in reparation for my sins, for all the poor souls in purgatory, for the intentions of all my relatives and friends, and in particular for the intentions of the Holy Father.

I wish to gain all the indulgences attached to the prayers I shall say and the good works I shall perform this day. Amen.
