Our hearts go out to our Muslim friends, family and neighbors after the senseless murder of at least three people at San Diego's largest mosque today. The heart of Islam is "Salaam," which means "peace." Those who hate Muslims typically hate Jews and Asians, and good people of all minorities. This kind of violence has much less to do with the victims than it does with the perpetrators. Our task to transform America into a place where we can celebrate and embrace our diversity, has taken another severe step back today. We have much work to do to restore civility in this country. Let's start by showing each other a little more kindness.
