In 1998, Hurricane Mitch destroyed the only public hospital in the community of El Rosario, Honduras. Joanny Medrano, who grew up in Honduras was living in Damascus at that time, and asked for help from her Church family. Paul Catholic Church has provided medical care for thousands of families in eight impoverished communities and beyond. Paul Clinic in Honduras opened its doors in April 2000 to h
elp the poor with medical care after Hurricane Mitch. Paul Catholic Church has been the sole financial supporter of the medical clinic that operates year round since its inception. We are happy to welcome four new parishes into the partnership of sponsoring this clinic, St. Pius X of Bowie, Maryland; Church of the Annunciation of Washington, DC; and Our Lady of Grace of Silver Spring, Maryland. Together we can provide more health care coverage to more people who otherwise cannot afford good health care services. We are seeking sponsorship to raise money for the St. Paul Clinic. Money raised from the Gala goes directly to pay for all medicines and the salaries of eight staff at the clinic which include: one full time doctor, two part time doctors, one dentist, one administrator, one nurse, one security/handy man, and one housekeeper. We envision for the future a new medical center, which is in the planning stage, built to offer a better and safer environment and treatment facility. Twice a year we take medical mission trips to lend addition support to the clinic. Your support of this Gala provides much needed medical aid to those in need in Honduras, particularly the elderly and children of Honduras. All proceeds of the Gala support the St. Paul Clinic in Honduras.
