Our church office will be closed on Monday, September 7th in honor of Labor Day, which prior to becoming a Federal holiday, was celebrated by labor activists to recognize the importance of the working class to our society. May we remember the laborers who put food on our tables and clothes on our bodies, as well as those who maintain our lawns and households, and work to ensure that they receive fair and equitable treatment (James 5:4).
For those who are able to observe Labor Day this year and, more importantly, for those who are not able to take the day off, may we remember that we have a Savior who offers to carry our heavy burdens and to give us rest (Matthew 11:28). Therefore, friends, this Labor Day, eat and drink and take pleasure in all your toil (Ecclesiastes 3:13), for as good stewards of God's grace, we are called to serve one another with the gifts we have received (1 Peter 4:10).
