First Presbyterian Church Dalton We are a strong, familiar, loving, and faithful people. Sunday Mornings:
Sunday School begins at 9:15 a.m. Fellowship time at 10:00 a.m. Evangelical. Ecumenical.

Worship Service starts at 10:30. We’re a strong, familiar, loving, and faithful group of Jesus Followers affiliated with the Presbyterian Church (USA), an evangelical, ecumenical and reformed denomination of approximately 2.3 million members, more than 10,000 congregations and 14,000 ordained and active ministers. Presbyterians trace their history to the 16th century and the Protestant Reformation. Our heritage, and much of what we believe, began with John Calvin (1509-1564), whose writings crystallized much of the Reformed thinking that came before him. Reformed.

“Evangelical” means we believe that what the New Testament says about Christ and His Kingdom can change lives and change the world.

“Ecumenical” means that we not only put up with other Christians, we need them.

“Reformed” refers to a particular stream within Christianity that emphasizes our need to continually reshape and reform ourselves according to the Scriptures, especially the life and teachings of Jesus Christ.

This Sunday, October 25, we welcome bagpiper Diron Cundiff. He was born and raised in Aubrey, Texas; a small town north of Dallas.

After graduating nursing school in 2006 he joined the Navy and was active from 2006- 2011. He served at the National Naval Medical Center Bethesda, Maryland and Marine Corps Air Station Cherry Point, North Carolina. In November 2011, after his active-duty time was completed, he moved to Signal Mountain, TN and has called it home ever since. There he joined the Navy Reserves and after 19 years of service, heretired on July 1, 2026. He now works as a RN at McCallie School in Chattanooga, TN.

Diron started playing bagpipes after going to his first Scottish Highland Games in the Summer of 1997 and has enjoyed them ever since. He is a current member of the Chattanooga Pipe Band, competing in many of the Scottish Games throughout the Southeast US.

He is married to Jeni Yielding, originally from Monroe, Louisiana They have one son, 18 year old Satchel, who will graduate from Chattanooga Christian School in May 2027.

Complete with bagpiper Diron Cundiff, procession of Tartans, and musical selections to mark the occasion, our Worship will remember and honor this tradition as we glorify and bear witness to our living God in Jesus Christ. This is not an occasion to be missed!

If you would like to join in the procession of the tartans and bagpipes, please meet in the Parlor at 10:10 a.m. Sunday morning before Worship. We need a few more tartan carriers. Please contact Kathryn Sellers if you are able to help.

Please join us for the Sunday Fellowship Lunch on Sunday, October 25, in Hollis Hall, immediately following our Reformation Sunday Worship. In support of Share a Meal Sunday, don’t forget to drop off your Little Free Pantry items in the bins under the stairwell in the Commons area. If you would like to attend the lunch, please RSVP to the church office via email [email protected].

The menu will be White Chicken Enchiladas, Ground Beef Tacos with all the trimmings, Spanish Rice, Black Bean and Corn Salad, Guacamole and Mini Deserts.

During Sunday School, the children and youth classes came together and packed 11 boxes for the the college students and young adults in our congregation. Stickers, fidget toys, candy, and a Starbucks gift card were placed in each of them, along with handwritten notes from the children and youth. We want to let them all know that FPC Dalton is praying for each of them. 💕
