Imagine a father whose kid is constantly coming to him:
“Dad, can I have twenty dollars?
Dad, can I borrow the car?
Dad, can you take me somewhere?
Dad, can you buy this?”

And dads do it because we love our kids.
But imagine one Saturday the kid comes in and says, “Dad, what are you doing?”
“I’m getting ready to go run some errands.”
“I want to go.”
“Do you want to know where I’m going?”
“It doesn’t matter. Dad, I just want to be with you.”
And I wonder if the Father is saying, “Do you just want to be with Me? Do you just want to come be with Me? Yes, I want to bless you and give you things. But don’t make it about that. Come close.”

“We are formed by what we behold.”

Sunday, we watched a king send singers ahead of soldiers, and a jail cell shake loose because two beaten men chose a song over a strategy.
What have you been beholding this year?
Your fear, or your God?

Save this. Let it work on you this week

What are you facing right now that you've been strategizing about instead of worshiping over?
Maybe it's a job search that's had you up at night running numbers. Maybe it's a relationship you've been trying to fix with logic instead of prayer. Maybe it's a diagnosis you've researched from every angle except on your knees.
Jehoshaphat had three armies coming ...
and sent the choir first.

That's not a call to stop planning.
It's a call to worship before you strategize, not instead of it, not only after it.
Tell us below what you're facing. We'd love to worship over it with you this week, not just talk about it.

Ten weeks.
Five practices.
One prayer over Dalton and Northwest Georgia:
that we'd be a people and a place of His presence.

Swipe through. This is what we're becoming together.

Worship passionately. Pray expectantly. Extend the healing ministry of Jesus. Join the Spirit's work of renewal. Witness boldly.

There's a state historical marker on the side of the road in Murray County. Most people drive past it doing fifty.

Read the last line on it.

"The work begun here was not abandoned with the forced removal of the Cherokees, but was transferred to New Springplace, in Oklahoma."

Sit for a second in everything that one sentence is carrying.

On Christmas Eve, 1832, the Georgia militia rode up to Springplace and ordered the doors shut. The mission limped into 1833 and then it was finished. Thirty-two years of gospel witness, ended by men on horseback.

Six years later, thousands of Cherokee men, women, and children, including baptized believers and many shaped by decades of that teaching, were forced off this land and marched west on what we now call the Trail of Tears.

Many of them never survived the walk.

Don't rush past that. It's a real wound, and it happened on the ground we live on.

But look at what those missionaries did next.

They went with them.

All the way to Oklahoma. And when they got there, they opened the doors again and called it New Springplace.

What was planted here didn't die. It got transplanted.

You can close a building. You can force a people off their land. You can scatter bodies across a thousand miles of suffering.

You cannot deport the Holy Spirit.
