Hey friends,

Pastor Doc here. The deacons have decided that it would be a good call to cancel the morning service tomorrow (1.9.) due to weather forecasts that look pretty ferocious. So enjoy some private worship tomorrow and, Lord willing, we’ll gather together next week. Mark and I love you guys. Let us know how we can help!

Really love doing a small group @ our house.

Connie and I are growing closer in relationship with our brothers and sisters.

We’re reading “The Pursuit of the Holy” by Jerry Bridges. I’ve never read it. So good for a group to read together! Thought this was both so true and so graceful:

“We often say, ‘God hates the sin but loves the sinner.’ This is blessedly true, but too often we quickly rush over the first half of this statement to get to the second. We cannot escape the fact that God hates our sins. We may trifle with our sins or excuse them, but God hates them.” Chapter 2, “The Holiness of God” p. 15

Come join us tomorrow morning (8.22) @ Grace. Together, we'll "praise Father, Son, and Holy Spirit together!

Dr. Mark is preaching a sermon on each book of the Bible. Tomorrow we're in Ezra. Awesome series!

The service is @ 10:30.

Loving God & loving others in Jesus' name through the power of the Holy Spirit!

Hey. Pastor Doc here. So happy to watch "good deeds" happening in our local churches!

All of our NEPA gospel-loving local churches are part of one big universal church, one big universal body of Christ. So let's do "good deeds" even more:

“Our people must also learn to engage in good deeds to meet pressing needs, so that they will not be unfruitful.” Titus‬ ‭3:14‬

Missed you all this morning. My friend, Dan Cruver, posted this. Really good. Doc

Loved worshipping together on Sunday. You "spoke to one another" when you sang. Praise the Lord! I'm posting Herbert's poem entitled "Love (III)" that we read together. It's beautiful! Let the love of God for you motivate you to love and good works. Love you guys. Excited to be together tomorrow night:

"Love bade me welcome. Yet my soul drew back
Guilty of dust and sin.
But quick-eyed Love, observing me grow slack
From my first entrance in,
Drew nearer to me, sweetly questioning,
If I lacked any thing.

A guest, I answered, worthy to be here:
Love said, You shall be he.
I the unkind, ungrateful? Ah my dear,
I cannot look on thee.
Love took my hand, and smiling did reply,
Who made the eyes but I?

Truth Lord, but I have marred them: let my shame
Go where it doth deserve.
And know you not, says Love, who bore the blame?
My dear, then I will serve.
You must sit down, says Love, and taste my meat:
So I did sit and eat."

A calm visual picture by Hope Olson that, for me, captures David’s beautiful Psalm 131:2 word picture. I also like John Calvin’s reflection on the verse:

“The calm and quiet of David’s soul is completely different from the turbulent desires which constantly agitate so many. The figure of childhood is used both by Isaiah and Christ (Isa. 28:9; Matt. 18:3); it is when we adopt that simplicity which welcomes instruction and rejects all self-confidence that we lie sweetly and peacefully on Christ’s bosom, undisturbed by inordinate desire. It is then we abide within the Lord’s calling.” John Calvin on Psalm 131:2

Visit us @ Grace on Sunday. Pastor Mark will be in Genesis 12.

Dear Grace Family,
Hey everybody! I want to let you know that, in light of the Coronavirus, your pastor and deacons have prayerfully decided to cancel all services (beginning tonight with prayer meeting) until Sunday morning, April 5th. We will, Lord willing, gather again on the 5th to worship publicly. -excerpt from Pastor Doc’s email to church family, March 18
