Highland Park Presbyterian Church Leading all generations into a transforming relationship with Jesus. Sunday Services at 8:15, 9:30, and 11:00 am

Our ultimate goal is not to be a beautiful church, or a big church, or a church that is growing so we can feel good about ourselves. Our mission is to be a Jesus church, where people of every generation are finding the joy, hope and transformation of life in Christ.

It’s Monday night and people are filing through the side door of the gym. A man in a baseball cap greets people as they finish setting up the courts. As the matches begin, laughter and the succinct pop of player’s serves and returns echo through the gym. It may seem like any other group playing pickleball, but the players at HP Pres have built a cherished community where all are welcome. Bobby, a leader and coach in the group shares, “We have people of all ages and backgrounds coming together. It’s really a fun way for people to get connected to the church.”

Although something simple like pickleball may not seem like a great spiritual practice, it offers people a gentle first step through the doors of the church. Over the past few years, Bobby has seen people, who may never have sought out church before, make connections with Christ-followers time and time again. He shares, “We have people come all the time who are invited by a friend of a friend. We all gotta have a place where we feel like we belong and it’s great to see new people find that here.”

We are made to know and be known by others, but deep fellowship doesn’t happen overnight. It takes consistency and intentionality to build relationships with people that will last. The Monday night pickleball group is just one example of how fellowship can start as something simple and grow into deep connection with others. Sometimes all it takes is an invitation to bring people closer to Christ and his followers. Take a moment to consider how you can be more intentional about inviting people into your walk with Christ this week.

We’d love to spend some time in fun and fellowship with you! Grab a friend and join us Monday nights for Pickleball at 6 pm in the Gym.

On May 15, 1983, HP Pres dedicated its magnificent Casavant Organ, a feat of engineering and artistry featuring 95 ranks of pipes across two locations.

🎹 While 80 ranks anchor the Chancel, 15 ranks flank the resurrection window in the balcony - a design chosen to surround the congregation and enhance shared song.

🎵 The main four-manual console was designed to blend into the woodwork for services, yet rotate for concerts so the audience could see the organist in action.

🌟 This historic addition was made possible by the vision of Director of Music Grant W. Brown and Organist Michael Benefiel, and the generosity of Mrs. John E. May and Dr. Frank H. Kidd, Jr. It was inaugurated with two recitals by world-renowned organist Fredrick Swann.

40 years later, this instrument continues to provide the powerful swell that carries the voices of our choirs, congregation, and visiting artists.

Next week, hundreds of kids will be attending VBS on our campus. While this is a fun week full of laughter and new friendships, it is also an opportunity to share God’s love with the kids and families who will be attending.

Join us in praying for the week ahead in the following ways:

- For the kids and families being introduced to Jesus for the first time through VBS- that they would experience His love in meaningful ways
- For volunteers to lead with wisdom & love and that they would be reminded to come to Jesus like the little children do
- For the families experiencing grief or transitions this summer to feel welcomed, refreshed, and seen at VBS
- For our campus to function well and safely as we welcome so many into the walls of our church building

Thank you to everyone who makes VBS possible! We’ll see you next week!

At 92 years old, Ann, affectionately known as “Magic,” is an active member of her community and a passionate Bible teacher. Ann leads a weekly Bible study at the senior living community where she has been a resident for the past twelve years, but her passion for teaching and Biblical literacy far precedes that. With a background in education and a love for God’s Word, Ann has sought out deep connection in Scripture for the majority of her life.

Since becoming a Covenant Partner of HP Pres in 1957, Ann has witnessed God’s faithfulness in our church throughout the decades. From deepening her own understanding of Scripture to teaching Bible studies, Ann has been shaped by the Christ centered community here. She shares, “This is a wonderful church. I love the theology and that there are so many ways for people to be in God’s Word.”

Although life looks different at 92 than it did at 32, Ann is still choosing to utilize her spiritual giftings of teaching and encouragement to bring people closer to God. People can often feel isolated and lonely at senior living communities, so Ann sees their weekly Bible study as a great opportunity for her to invite people into the family of Christ. She shares, “Anyone is welcome. There are people on all levels of Biblical knowledge who attend so we find a nice balance in the teaching.”

God is at work in each of us in different ways. Ann has found purpose in teaching others about God’s Word but encourages people to discover God’s gifting in their own lives. As it says in 1 Corinthians 12:4-6, “There are different kinds of gifts, but the same Spirit distributes them. There are different kinds of service, but the same Lord. There are different kinds of working, but in all of them and in everyone it is the same God at work.”

There never comes a point in a person’s life where they are no longer useful to the Kingdom of God. As long as there is life, there is purpose. Learn how you can continue to live purposefully in the Third Third of life at hppres.org/third-third.

Did you know that since 2001, HP Pres has planted five churches in the Dallas area?

For a century, we have served as a missions outpost in the heart of Dallas—where disciples are molded and sent to bring the Gospel to the world. As a part of the Renew campaign, our goal is to raise $4m to fund the start of two new churches and strengthen partnerships with strategic church-plants to expand the gospel in key communities.

Would you prayerfully consider how God might be leading you to participate in Renew?

Make your pledge at hppres.org/renew.

World-renowned baritone Tyler Duncan performs the title role, alongside choirs from Highland Park Presbyterian Church, First United Methodist Church of Richardson, University of Texas Rio Grande Valley, and the Highland Park Chorale.

Join us on Saturday, June 13 at 5 pm for an unforgettable season finale performance that you won’t want to miss!
