Deliver Truth...Where Written Words Can't Go
www.spoken.org We deliver Truth...where written words can’t go.

Because 2/3 of the world’s population are oral learners – most of whom are unreached by the gospel – our approach to ministry is uniquely different. Oral learners do not read as their primary means of sharing and learning; therefore, we deliver Truth the way they understand best – through spoken rather than written words. And while our work focuses on individual lives being transformed, the impact made is far greater, as entire communities are moved to walk in Truth.

Why does Oral Bible Translation matter for reaching unreached people who can’t or don’t read? 🎧️

Because having a Bible nearby doesn’t necessarily mean someone can access God’s Word.

For millions of oral learners, Scripture must be heard in their heart language and shared in the format they understand best.

Through Oral Bible Translation, we help make God’s Word accessible to unreached oral communities. But the goal is more than producing an audio recording.

We want people to hear, understand, remember, live out, and share God’s Word.
When Scripture is truly accessible, it becomes more than information—it becomes something people can engage with together and apply to daily life.🧡

“Even if you don’t have anyone to help you, when you stay connected to God, He will help you.”

Jacob, a 53-year-old farmer in Nigeria, knows what it feels like to carry life’s burdens alone.

Like many in his community, Jacob works hard to provide for his family. But the challenges of farming and providing for those he loves often left him discouraged and uncertain about the future.

Then Jacob was invited to a listening group where people gather to hear Bible stories in their own language.

One story especially touched his heart: John 5:1–9, about a man who had been sick for years and had no one to help him—until Jesus came.

As Jacob listened, he began to see his own circumstances differently. He realized that even when he feels alone, God sees him, cares for him, and can be trusted.

Since then, Jacob has become more faithful in prayer and continues attending the listening group. He is also sharing what he is learning with his family and neighbors, encouraging them to trust God when life is difficult.

This is the power of hearing God’s Word in a language people understand. It doesn’t just give people a story—it gives them hope, ignites and strengthens their faith, and helps them see their circumstances through the truth of Scripture.
Please pray for the Vemgo people of Nigeria, many of whom have not yet heard God’s Word in a language they understand. 🙏

Sometimes, the person helping others hear God’s Word is being transformed by it, too.🧡

That’s what’s happening in Ghana.🇬🇭
Evelyn is part of the Anum Boso Oral Bible Translation team, helping translate Scripture into the heart language of her community. But as she studies each passage, discusses its meaning, and helps put it into words her people can understand, something is happening in her own heart.
She is coming to know God’s Word more deeply—and it’s changing the way she lives.

As her faith and understanding have grown, Evelyn has become more confident in putting Scripture into practice and sharing God’s Word with others.
And now, she’s finding new ways to reach her community with the very Scriptures she is helping to translate.

Her story reminds us that Bible translation isn’t simply about putting words into another language. It’s about lives being changed—starting with the people carrying God’s Word to others.

And Evelyn’s story is just one of many. You can help make more stories like hers possible. Your gift helps equip local believers to translate God’s Word into the languages their communities understand best, so that more people can hear, understand, and respond to the Good News.🧡

🙏 Will you partner with us today to help bring God’s Word to those still waiting to hear it in their heart language?

Together, we can help make sure no one has to wait to hear the Word of God in a language they understand.

The waiting is over. 🙌🎧

🇬🇭 For the Chakali and Larteh communities in Ghana, something extraordinary has happened.

The New Testament is complete—and ready to be heard.🧡

For the first time, oral learners in these communities will be able to hear God’s Word in the language they know best—their heart language—and engage with Scripture in the way they learn best: by listening.

Think about what that means. Words that were once out of reach can now be heard. God’s Truth can now be understood, shared, and passed from one person to another.

We praise God for every translator, local leader, church partner, prayer warrior, and supporter who helped make this possible.

Now we pray that as the Chakali and Larteh hear the Good News in their own language, many will encounter Christ, discover His hope, and have their lives transformed by His Word.

The waiting is over. Now the Word can be heard. 🙏🎧

Three reasons why Discovery Bible Study groups are essential for oral learners to connect with Scripture. Oral learners rely more on relationships and face-to-face communication than communities that prefer text-based communication. They put their trust in the people of their community and what they learn from each other.

For years, Samantha knew God was calling her to serve the Jaya, one of Malaysia's indigenous peoples. But there was one question she couldn't answer:
"How do I begin?"

Many Jaya communities are oral learners, and few have had the opportunity to experience God's Word in a way they can easily understand.

At the Spoken Oral Discipleship training, Samantha found the answer she had been praying for. Through oral Bible storytelling and Discovery Bible Study (DBS), she discovered a practical, reproducible way to help people engage with Scripture, grow as disciples, and share God's Word with others.

With tears in her eyes, Samantha shared that although God had called her to the Jaya years ago, she had never known how to take that first step. She left the training encouraged, equipped, and ready to serve—helping the Jaya encounter God's Word in their heart language.

🙏 Would you join us in praying for the Jaya Language Project? Pray that God will strengthen the translation team, raise up additional translators, and make a way for every Jaya community to encounter His Word in their own language. ❤️

What if your prayers could help someone hear God's Word for the very first time?

We have the privilege of seeing God answer prayers in incredible ways—opening doors that once seemed impossible and making a way for His Word to reach communities that have never had access to the gospel.

Will you join us in praying?
As part of the Spoken Prayer Team, you'll receive weekly prayer updates from the field, giving you the opportunity to pray for our field leaders, mother tongue translators, local disciple-makers, and the unreached communities who are still waiting to encounter God's Word.

Together, we're trusting God to see oral communities receive Scripture in the language and format they understand best. As people hear God's Word, share it with others, and gather in Discovery Bible Study groups, lives, families, and entire communities are being transformed by the gospel.

Every prayer matters. Every prayer is part of God's work.

Many people picture a remote village deep in the jungle. But being unreached isn't about geography—it's about access.

🌏️ Millions of people around the world have no local church, no nearby believers, and no Scripture in a language they can truly understand. Some live in isolated villages. Others live in the heart of busy cities. The common thread is that they still haven't had a meaningful opportunity to hear and understand the gospel.

For many of these communities, a printed Bible isn't the first step. They learn through listening, storytelling, and conversation. That's why oral Bible translation is so important. It brings God's Word to people in the language and format they
understand best—so Scripture can be heard, remembered, shared, and lived out.

Every person deserves the opportunity to encounter God's Word in a way they can understand.

Nearly one million people in the Philippines are one step closer to hearing God's Word in their own language.

Recently, members of the Spoken Oral Bible Translation team traveled to the Philippines to encourage and equip three oral Bible translation teams serving communities where access to Scripture is still limited.

Together, these three language projects represent more than 980,000 people, many of whom are oral learners living in Muslim-majority areas where following Jesus and sharing God's Word can come with significant challenges.

During the visit, Spoken's Oral Bible Translation Director, John, and Consultant Trainer, Angie, led workshops and community engagement sessions to strengthen and encourage the local translation teams. Together, they are translating the first five books of the Bible—Genesis, Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers, and Deuteronomy—into the heart languages of the people they serve.

Would you join us in praying for these teams?

🙏 Pray for wisdom, perseverance, and protection as they faithfully translate God's Word.
🙏 Pray that the people who hear these Scriptures for the first time will encounter Jesus and experience the transforming power of His Word.

Every translated story brings another community one step closer to hearing God's Word in the language they understand best. ❤️
