*WISDOM FOR TODAY.*

*STAY INFORMED. (2)*

*Scripture Treasure.*
2 Sam 1:1-17
v1 *Now it came to pass after the death of Saul, when David was returned from the slaughter of the Amalekites, and David had abode two days in Ziklag;*
v2 *It came even to pass on the third day, that, behold, a man came out of the camp from Saul with his clothes rent, and earth upon his head: and so it was, when he came to David, that he fell to the earth, and did obeisance.*
v3 *And David said unto him, From whence comest thou? And he said unto him, Out of the camp of Israel am I escaped.*
v4 *And David said unto him, How went the matter? I pray thee, tell me. And he answered, That the people are fled from the battle, and many of the people also are fallen and dead; and Saul and Jonathan his son are dead also.*
v5 *And David said unto the young man that told him, How knowest thou that Saul and Jonathan his son be dead?*
v6 *And the young man that told him said, As I happened by chance upon mount Gilboa, behold, Saul leaned upon his spear; and, lo, the chariots and horsemen followed hard after him.*
v7 *And when he looked behind him, he saw me, and called unto me. And I answered, Here am I.*
v8 *And he said unto me, Who art thou? And I answered him, I am an Amalekite.*
v9 *He said unto me again, Stand, I pray thee, upon me, and slay me: for anguish is come upon me, because my life is yet whole in me.*
v10 *So I stood upon him, and slew him, because I was sure that he could not live after that he was fallen: and I took the crown that was upon his head, and the bracelet that was on his arm, and have brought them hither unto my lord.*
v11 *Then David took hold on his clothes, and rent them; and likewise all the men that were with him:*
v12 *And they mourned, and wept, and fasted until even, for Saul, and for Jonathan his son, and for the people of the Lord, and for the house of Israel; because they were fallen by the sword.*
v13 *And David said unto the young man that told him, Whence art thou? And he answered, I am the son of a stranger, an Amalekite.*
v14 *And David said unto him, How wast thou not afraid to stretch forth thine hand to destroy the Lord's anointed.*
v15 *And David called one of the young men, and said, Go near, and fall upon him. And he smote him that he died.*
V16 *And David said unto him, Thy blood be upon thy head; for thy mouth hath testified against thee, saying, I have slain the Lord's anointed.*
v17 *And David lamented with this lamentation over Saul and over Jonathan his son:*

*Insight and Highlight.*
Today people try to be first to spread news rather than be true.

*Scripture Commentaries.*
People need to be true, not just be first.
There is no honour in being the first to share news that is not verified but there is honour being the last to share news that is verified.
When you try to be first but not true, you do not care how many people are hurt or deceived.
When it comes to information, it is either of five things.
First, it is often the case that the story is not fully detailed. It often consists of a mixture of truth and lies.
Second, it is the case that the story is true.
Third, is the case that the story is totally untrue and someone will be misinformed
Fourth, it is often the case that there is information but one is not informed.
Fifth, it is often the case that one though informed but misunderstands the information.
An Amalekite came to David with reports of King Saul and Jonathan’s deaths on Mount Gilboa.
In the case of the Amalekites and David, the first category applies.
The man reported he slew Saul and he thought David would be glad Saul was dead.
It was true Saul died but the Amalekites lied about the true circumstances surounding Saul's death and the Amalekite was not the one who killed Saul.
The true story of Saul's death is recorded in
1 Sam 31.
Saul was badly wounded and fearing the Philistines would capture him.
In order to prevent being ridiculed by the enemy or put to an open shame, he ordered his armor-bearer to kill him.
When the armor-bearer refused out of terror, Saul took his own sword and fell upon it. His armor-bearer then did the same, and both died together.
David mourned at hearing of Saul and Jonathan's death and instead of rewarding the Amalekite, as the Amalekite thought he would, he ordered for his ex*****on.
People who misinform information are usually people who always want to be first to spread information rather than be true.
They choose to be first rather than be first with true information.
People need to be true, not just be first.
When you try to be first with untrue information, you will not only hurt people, you will deceive them.
People who try to be first but not true, do not really care how many people they hurt or are hurt or how many people they deceive or are deceived.
Do you also strive to be first to share information you have not verified?
Are you always someone who always want to earn the position or status of 'information handlers'?
If you do this, it is a destruction of your character how much more the confusion and heartbreaks you would have caused.
Think before you do this!
Be patient to understand information before you share it.
Stay informed

*Remorse corner.*
When it comes to sharing information, people need just be true, not be first.

*Call to Word action.*
Spreading unverified information is gossip.
It is slanderous and bearing false witness.
Prov 12:17 *He that speaketh truth sheweth forth righteousness: but a false witness deceit.*

*The Christian clarion duty.*
You do not have to be the first to share that information. Search out the truth, first.

*Prayer.*
Help me not to cause tragedy or chaos at sharing information. Help me to stay informed so that l do not misinform people, in Jesus name.

Good morning all and have a blessed day.

God bless you.

Shalom.

*WISDOM FOR TODAY.*

*STAY INFORMED.*

*Scripture Treasure.*
Heb 2:1
*Therefore we ought to give the more earnest heed to the things which we have heard, lest at any time we should let them slip.*

*Insight and Highlight.*
Paul admonishes paying attention to! information.

*Scripture Commentaries.*
Paul warns believers to pay very close attention to the gospel message to avoid drifting away from their faith.
Information, having access to it and making use of it, is vital not to human survival but also for spiritual survival.
If you follow directives and information provided you, you will save not only your life but your spiritual life too.
In the world of information we are in today, there are two things that are so possible but impossible to believe.
First is that you can read information through newsletters, newspapers, newsflashes yet not reliably informed.
Second, is that you can read information through newsletters, newspapers, newsflashes, etc yet you can be misinformed.
Regardless of either or both of the above there are information that are critical and reliable that we must never refuse to obey but abide by it.
First is biblical instructions in God's word.
You can not be misinformed or be unreliably informed by the word of God.
You can not afford to ignore it
Solomon says in Prov 1:1-5.
*The proverbs of Solomon the son of David, king of Israel;*
*To know wisdom and instruction; to perceive the words of understanding;*
*To receive the instruction of wisdom, justice, and judgment, and equity;*
*To give subtilty to the simple, to the young man knowledge and discretion.*
*A wise man will hear, and will increase learning; and a man of understanding shall attain unto wise counsels.*
Solomon says in Prov 22:3 *The prudent see danger and take refuge, but the simple keep going and pay the penalty.*
The Prudent: (the wise) foresee potential danger, they obey and heed to warnings, and take necessary steps to protect themselves.
The Simple/the fool despite information lack foresight, ignore warning signs, and continue blindly on their path, eventually suffering the consequences.
Second is you can ask God to help you discern information in the world today.
While there are information that are crucial and are positively life impactful, there are those you must not follow.
Not all information or knowledge is godly.
People find it difficult to believe what they do not understand. For example, people find it difficult to understand why they should be moral or godly.
However they find it easy to understand or justify why they should not be moral or godly.
We live in a world where people are proud of what they should be ashamed of.
What sort of information guides you?
Stay informed. Do not be ignorant of useful and godly information around you. Let them guide you!

*Remorse corner.*
Pay attention to information that are vital and godly.

*Call to Word action.*
Discern godly and fruitful information from the ungodly and unfruitful.

*The Christian clarion duty.*
Stay informed by information that are helpful and edifying.

*Prayer.*
Lord, let me not fall victim of information that are not edifying, in Jesus name.

Good morning and a Happy New month of June. It is our month of *UNDERSTANDING INFORMATION.*

God bless you.

Shalom.

*WISDOM FOR TODAY.*

*ARE YOU WORKING HARD OR HARDLY WORKING? (9)*

*Scripture Treasure.*
Ecclesiastes 12:12
*And further, by these, my son, be admonished: of making many books there is no end; and much study is a weariness of the flesh.*

*Insight and Highlight.*
Intellectual pursuit can lead to physical and spiritual exhaustion.

*Scripture Commentaries.*
God is a God of knowledge.
1 Sam 2:3 says *"......for the Lord is a God of knowledge, and by him actions are weighed.*
He gives instructions to give those who will hear *"..... knowledge and discretion."*
Prov 1:4-5.
He teaches that those who fear Him are on the path of irresistible and precious wisdom that can not be taken away from them. Those who refuse to fear Him, no matter what earthly knowledge they possess are fools because they can not achieve God's wisdom if they do not know His word.
Prov 1 :6-7 says *The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge: but fools despise wisdom and instruction.*
God loves knowledge because of the destructive consequences of its lack,
Hosea 4:6 says *My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge: because thou hast rejected knowledge, I will also reject thee, that thou shalt be no priest to me: seeing thou hast forgotten the law of thy God, I will also forget thy children.*
God's wisdom is permanent because those who have it have life everlasting.
An important observation from Eccl 12:12 cautions that human knowledge is endless and seeking ultimate fulfillment through constant intellectual pursuit without the fear of God leads to physical and spiritual exhaustion.
This is why people who are intellectually sound without the fear of God adopt philosophical thinking.
Paul warns us against them in Colossians 2:8 *Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ.*
You are hardworking to achieve intellectual knowledge but you are hardly working to achieve spiritual knowledge for God.
Why are you working hard to obtain the best level of education when you are spending little or no time to acquire biblical knowledge that would enhance your knowledge of God?
Paul was not discouraging achieving academic excellence.
He was a lawyer himself. He studied under Gamaliel, Acts 2:23, yet he wished he could know God more, Philpns 3:10.
Neither was Solomon against studying to achieve knowledge.
1 Kgs 4:32 says *"......he spake three thousand proverbs: and his songs were a thousand and five.*
He, however warns, saying *".....much study is a weariness of the flesh.* because you can not attain any end to the writing of books, there is no end to the pursuit of worldly wisdom. Trying to learn or control everything will only burn you out.
The more of God you know the more God fills you up in and in you flows the river of living waters, John 7:38.
Studying God's words can not cause weariness.
Many study to show inflated ego but Paul tells Timothy to study to show himself approved as a workman, a co-labourer with God
2 Timothy 2:15 says *Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.*
There are people who earn academic qualifications but no one biblical study or qualification.
Why would you work hard to earn the best academic excellence and you would be adjudged by God to have hardly worked because you know nothing about Him that would prove you are a workman in His vineyard?
As you workhard to achieve in life, let God see your hardwork in Him!

*Remorse corner.*
Achieving the most academic excellence without Christ will not take anyone to Heaven.

*Call to Word action.*
However Jesus says in Rev 1:3
*Blessed is he that readeth, and they that hear the words of this prophecy, and keep those things which are written therein......*

*The Christian clarion duty*
While those who pursue academic careers or achievement can not be filled
Matthew 5:6 says *Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled.*

*Prayer.*
Lord help me as I work towards academic excellence help me to have fruitful time to study to show myself approved as a co-labourer with You in Jesus name.

Good morning all and be blessed as you come into His presence today.

God bless you.

Shalom.

*WISDOM FOR TODAY.*

*ARE YOU WORKING HARD OR HARDLY WORKING? (8)*

*Scripture Treasure.*
Psalm 127:2 *It is vain for you to rise up early, to sit up late, to eat the bread of sorrows: for so he giveth his beloved sleep.*

*Insight and Highlight.*
The psalmist teaches us to be careful not to do more than our health could permit.

*Scripture Commentaries.*
The psalmist teaches us to becareful to notice when hardwork affects our sleep or rest.
At any point where waking up early or lateness to go to bed often associated to eating late becomes a norm, health risks are imminent.
Lateness to sleep followed by an early rise up can lead to an indication that you are not sleeping well.
Sleep deprivation, burnout are symptoms that can lead to physical exhaustion.
It is good your sleeping schedules suggests that you have enough rest at the same time, God values your health and rest, that are enough for you to connect with Him at any time of day.
Getting up early to read the scriptures, to pray at the start of the day is encouraged in the bible, Psa 5:3.
In addition to when our hardwork robs us of good rest, it becomes more dangerous when it robs us of trusting in God early or late at night before we retire to bed.
When hardwork robs us of good sleep we are depriving ourselves of the sleep, God has feeely given us.
The psalmist tells us by encouraging us to rest in the peace that God provides for His loved ones, Ps 127:2.
What is your personal preference?
Health or wealth?
If you love your health more than money,
waking up early becomes a sense of joyful connection and reflection, and is generally considered a healthy spiritual practice and waking up early attimes for physical exercise is considered a healthy physical practice.
If you love money more than health, you are looking up to your hard work alone to determine your success, you may lose sleep or enough of it to sustain you to enjoy it.
Psalm 127 is about why you are losing sleep and is implying the futility of exhausting yourself through hardwork when done without trusting in God.
Is your daily chores or hardwork depriving you of sleep?
Is your daily chores or hardwork depriving you, of not only sleep but, of connecting with God?
In Mark 1:35 Jesus would rise very early in the morning, while it was still dark to find a quiet place and pray.
It says about Jesus, *And in the morning, rising up a great while before day, he went out, and departed into a solitary place, and there prayed.*
Hardwork that deprives you good sleep will also deprive you of connection with God.
Hardwork that deprives you good sleep is vain because it is contrary to God's will of His promise to give you good sleep.
When hardwork deprives you of God's will and His promise to give you good sleep, it will affect both your physical and spiritual commitments and performances.
Take good care of yourself!
You should not be working hard as if you are hardly working when there is no physical or spiritual gain to show for it.

*Remorse corner.*
The Bible does warn against sacrificing essential rest, and cautions against rising early if it is driven by excessive work and anxiety to earn more rather than peaceful rest.

*The Christian clarion duty.*
Get your priorities right. If your rising up and sleeping late robs you your time, it has also robbed you of the time with God.

*The Christian clarion duty.*
Be encouraged to have time for yourself.
When you do, you will have time for God.
The psalmist woke up early before sunrise to cry out to God.
Psalm 119:147 *l prevented the dawning of the morning, and cried: I hoped in thy word.*

*Prayer.*
Lord, do not allow my hardwork to affect both my physical and spritual health through rising up or sitting late, in Jesus name.

Good morning all and have a blessed day.

God bless you.

Shalom.
