Texans on Mission Builders have been busy, and the work shows!

Last month, the Cabinet Builders spent a week constructing cabinets for the parsonage at First Baptist Church in Teague, Texas, which sustained significant water damage following a leak. For some, it was their first time building cabinets, but that didn’t slow them down.

“Some of the guys had never built any cabinets, but they all approached the project with zeal,” Cabinet Builders coordinator Tony Tarpley said. “I was really proud of all of them.”

Meanwhile, Camp Builders tackled multiple renovation projects at Pineywoods Camp in Woodlake, Texas, including a new privacy enclosure and a deck.

From first-timers to seasoned volunteers, our Builders continue to show up with willing hearts and ready hands. We are grateful for every one of them!

Love looks like showing up after the storm.

It looks like a chainsaw team clearing a stranger’s yard in the Florida heat or a chaplain sitting with someone in the middle of their worst day. It looks like a well drilled in South Sudan so a child can drink clean water.

That is the love that moves our volunteers to cross miles for people they have never met. Within this, we will continue to live on mission for Christ day in and day out.

Days in. The need is still great, and the work goes on.

Texans on Mission chainsaw teams are still on the ground in Florida, cutting through fallen trees and clearing debris for residents working to pick up the pieces after Hurricane Isaias.

For many, the damage is personal. A tree through a roof. A yard buried under branches and debris. A home that doesn’t quite feel like home yet.

But they are not alone.

For every request for assistance completed, there is a family one step closer to normal. And for every volunteer serving in the Florida heat, there is a reminder that the body of Christ shows up for its neighbors.

Please continue to pray for Florida residents and for all volunteers providing help, hope and healing in Christ’s name.

We are aware that some organizations are claiming to align with us as disaster relief efforts continue in Florida.

We want to clarify, if you are approached by any organization or business that claims to be working with us, this is not true.

Texans on Mission will under no circumstance make you sign a contract or charge you for the work that we do.

It is our priority to help our neighbors move forward as best we can in Christ’s name. For no charge.

As an update, last week’s water delivery to Jay, Florida, after damages from Hurricane Isaias was successful. Praise God!

We pray it will serve its purpose for as long as possible as our neighbors take steps towards recovery. Thank you for all you do!

“When I saw the yellow shirts, my heart leapt.” - Hurricane Isaias survivor, Alex Perea.

Alex and Halie Perea are expecting their first child and just bought their first home in Florida. One week after closing on their home, Hurricane Isaias hit.

As the heavy wind and rain battered their house, the Pereas huddled in a closet with their dogs. Halie said it sounded like a train was coming through.

“You just feel helpless,” Alex said. “All you can do is pray and just hunker down.”

The storm tore away siding, ripped off sections of their roof and brought down massive trees that totaled both of their cars. For hours, they sat in darkness praying for help.

The Pereas thought it would take weeks for help to come. Instead, it took days.

Texans on Mission chainsaw teams showed up and spent an entire day working on their home, cutting up the massive trees that fell and clearing the debris.

“The help we received … seeing how much was cleared out, it means the world,” Halie said.

Your prayers and support help make this work possible. Thank you for living on mission with Christ to bring help, hope and healing to those who need it most.

Texans on Mission volunteers are on the ground in Florida following Hurricane Isaias, and the need is overwhelming.

In the hardest hit neighborhoods, trees are blocking entire roads, branches are piled up to window level and driveways have nearly disappeared beneath the debris. Most homes have at least one tree down on a garage or roof. The work orders keep coming, and our teams keep showing up.

What has been just as striking as the damage is the gratitude.

Many residents had no idea TXM volunteers were even in the area until a neighbor pointed them our way. Family members have shown up in tears. Strangers have stopped TXM volunteers in a local store just to say thank you.

Teams are walking with residents in their time of need not only physically, but emotionally and spiritually.

That’s why we go. That's why this work is important.

Volunteers will continue working to help residents move forward. Thank you for praying, for giving and for going during Florida's time of need.

Please continue to pray for those impacted and for every volunteer working tirelessly to bring help, hope and healing in Christ’s name.

*Update: The original destination, Escambia County, Alabama, later called to mention they no longer needed the 17 pallets of water. Thankfully, the water has been diverted to Jay, Florida, where they currently have no water or power as a result of Hurricane Isaias.

Thank you to Niagara and Serve Source for donating these pallets of water to help those in need.

When one door closes, God always opens another one. Please be in prayer for those impacted at this time.

Today, the first of three Texans on Mission chainsaw teams headed to Florida to help families recover after Hurricane Isaias.

The other two teams will roll out tomorrow to join volunteers providing relief in the area.

They'll not only be clearing fallen trees and debris, but they'll also be listening, praying and reminding survivors that they are not alone.

TXM is also delivering 17 pallets of bottled water to Alabama tomorrow to help those in need. Thank you, Niagara and Serve Source, for your contribution and partnership.

Please pray for traveling grace, for those impacted and for those providing help, hope and healing in Christ’s name.

If you’d like to join our relief efforts in Florida by giving financially, visit texansonmission.org/floridarelief.
