For so long I struggled with what it ACTUALLY looks like to repent. I remember just crying and writing in my prayer journal “God please forgive me… what if I do it again? Will you forgive me if I can’t forgive myself?” Since then, I’ve spent more time studying what the Bible shows us as true repentance and it has brought me SO MUCH more peace and (honestly….) CONFIDENCE in my walk with God. It’s not about apologizing the magic amount of times or crying the right amount of tears. It’s about turning in reliance on Christ. Simple as that. I hope this word study on ‘shoob’ helps you in your walk with the Lord and if you like Hebrew word studies like this one, I send out a word study like this every Thursday! Hey friends — you may notice some changes to the branding and name around my content over the next few days, and I wanted to share honestly about why.

Due to an ongoing trademark dispute, I’ve made the decision to transition the public-facing branding of the ministry. While I can’t speak to every detail publicly, I do want you to know this wasn’t a light or easy decision, and it’s honestly been emotionally exhausting behind the scenes.

But after a lot of prayer, counsel, and reflection, I’ve also realized something beautiful in it.

For a long time, you’ve known me through the phrase “Bible Nerd.” And I still love that—because it was never just a brand name. It describes a kind of person. A way of loving God’s Word.

That name isn’t something I created or something I own. It’s something we share. It belongs to a whole community of people who care deeply about Scripture.

And because of that, it’s actually not the most faithful thing for me to let that function as my personal name or identity online.

It’s bigger than me.

So instead of trying to carry that as my name, I want to honor it for what it really is- it is who we are.

And I want to step forward and take responsibility for what God is doing in, through, and despite me… under the name He actually gave me:

Faith Womack.

Not to make much of myself, but to steward this work clearly and honestly, without blurring the line between what belongs to a community and what I’ve been called to.

The mission hasn’t changed. If anything, it’s only grown.

We’re still going deep. We’re still loving God with our whole hearts, minds, and lives. We’re still building tools and teachings that help you engage Scripture more fully.

This just gives it a clearer home.

There are lots of things that I REALLLLLY wish someone told me sooner.

I wish I didn't have to learn them in seminary.

I wish I didn't have to wait to learn them through thousands of hours in the Bible.

So, I made a video including some of these things to save you YEARS of growth!

The video posted today, watch it below and stay until the end of this video and there is a link to a extra special verse mapping video with a worksheet!

See you there!

It's easy to feel confused and frustrated in your Bible studies- here is what I have learned over the years that would have saved me so much time and energy ...

Don’t miss this- Joshua took over after Moses in leading Gods people into the holy land, right? So God turns to Joshua and tells him to be transformed- to be brave and courageous by using the same word used for God’s hand delivering Israel out of Egypt. Be transformed by the past deliverance of God! I used to read God’s words to Joshua “be strong & courageous” and stress out a little. I don’t feel strong and courageous most days- if any at all! 🫠 But as I studied it closer (and did this word study!) I found that God wasn’t asking Joshua to muster up the bravery, but to find it anchored in the character and past actions of the Lord.
I think we need this reminder- that it’s not based on us, God’s not asking us to be more/do more… but to be transformed by the reality of Who He is and how He has acted.
