We believe true and lasting change will be brought about by the residents, pa

rticularly the children, of this community. Mercy Street's hope is to raise a new generation of leaders from the community to be the change agents of tomorrow. Sometimes an infusion of hope and help from the outside is all that is needed to make a monumental difference. That is where our mentors, coaches, and volunteers come in. They are tasked with being an encourager, friend, and advisor to the children over the course of many years. Mercy Street also seeks to be "incarnational" in our ministry efforts, meaning we relocate to the place where we minister in order to put flesh on the redemptive message of the gospel. Whether a physical relocation (like most of our staff) or a mental relocation (like most of our mentors), we invite everyone to take on the cares and concerns of the community as their own. We believe this is part of “loving our neighbors as ourselves.”

At Mercy Street, we prayerfully work together to push back against the thorns and thistles that have taken root in West Dallas so that God's Kingdom reign might be evident. Urban decay points to spiritual decay. As Christians it is our delightful responsibility to enter into the dark places of the world and let the light of Christ shine. Light always repels darkness. Join the movement and shine the light of Christ in our community.

Over the next three years, Mercy Street is preparing to reach more children and families throughout West and South Dallas—and we are excited about all that God has in store!

To support this growth, we are adding several amazing people to our team. These new team members will help strengthen our organization and build the infrastructure we need to accomplish everything God has called us to do.

We are looking for talented people who love the Lord, feel called to serve in an urban ministry context, and desire to use their God-given gifts to make a lasting difference in the lives of young people and families.

Year 3️⃣ of DBU Basketball Service Day at Mercy Street was a success! 😄

Recently, Coach Flickner and his team spent the morning serving students at C.F. Carr Elementary School and West Dallas STEM School, reaching at least 400 children between 9:30 and 11:30 a.m.

Throughout the morning, the team encouraged students to work hard, succeed in the classroom, and make choices that will help them thrive in life. We are grateful for partners who invest their time and energy in the children of West Dallas and help reinforce the message that their lives have purpose and their futures are worth pursuing.

Thank you to PE Coach Ates at C.F. Carr and Coach Davis at West Dallas STEM for welcoming and hosting us, and to Coach Flickner and the DBU team for another meaningful day of service!

This is an opportunity to make a meaningful investment in the lives of elementary-age children while gaining valuable experience along the way. AmeriCorps Members will help create a safe, encouraging environment where children receive homework support, participate in hands-on enrichment activities, build confidence, and develop skills that will serve them well beyond the classroom.

⚾️ This summer, several of our young baseball players took their game on the road. Our 10U All-Star team, led by Coach Eric Chapital, and our 12U All-Star team, led by Coach Mike Violi, competed in recreational all-star tournaments throughout June and July and 12U even came away with a championship banner.

Along the way, these athletes received tremendous community support, including batting gloves donated by the Rangers Youth Academy and new bats from Warstic ® .

Congratulations to both teams, their coaches, and every family who traveled and cheered them on. You made proud.

📚 As another school year begins, we were honored to help students and families in West and South Dallas start the year with confidence.

Today’s Back-to-School Resource Event brought together hundreds of children and parents for an afternoon filled with school supplies, helpful resources, and plenty of smiles. We are incredibly grateful to our lead partner, FRESHQUE FOUNDATION, and to Deloitte and the TRUST DOWNS FOUNDATION for providing volunteers who helped make the day such a success.

To every family who joined us, thank you for allowing us to be part of this exciting season. We are praying for a school year filled with growth, opportunity, and success for every student.

What a way to end the summer. 🤩 Last Friday, we celebrated the conclusion of the 2026 Leadership Institute and everything our students accomplished over the past eight weeks. From presenting their business ideas to sharing a meal with the people who invested in them all summer, the banquet was the perfect way to celebrate their hard work, growth, and all that they experienced together.

Thank you to every volunteer, speaker, community partner, donor, family member, and Mercy Street staff member who poured into our students. This summer would not have been possible without you.

To each of our Leadership Institute students, we are so proud of you. Thank you for showing up, working hard, and embracing every opportunity to grow. We can’t wait to see all that God has in store for you!

**REGISTRATION IS FULL!** 📚West & South Dallas Families: We are excited to welcome you as we come together to celebrate the new school year with family activities, sports league signups, community resources, food truck, DJ, Game Truck, Shoes, and back-to-school giveaways!

Hosted by FRESHQUE FOUNDATION and Mercy Street, this event supports students ages 5-14 (Pre-K to 8th Grade) living in the West Dallas and South Dallas community. West Dallas and South Dallas residents, along with their immediate family members and extended family/kin, are welcome to attend and enjoy the day’s activities. We hope to see you there!

Yesterday, more than 100 children from West Dallas took the field for an unforgettable football camp with SMU Football! Campers built their skills, enjoyed free food, and received a camp shirt.

One of the night’s biggest highlights came when one of our long time Mercy Street Sports players caught a long pass from SMU starting quarterback, Kevin Jennings! We also loved seeing strong representation from the West Dallas Vikings and West Dallas Rebels. 🏈

Thank you to SMU Football and everyone who helped create a memorable evening filled with football, community, and new opportunities for our children.

😄🌞 What an incredible summer! This year’s Mercy Street Summer Camp welcomed more than 100 children from West Dallas for a “Passport to Fun”summer filled with learning, laughter, and lasting impact. As we prepared for a new school year, students strengthened their academic skills to help them succeed in their next grade while also hearing the life changing message of the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

The summer was packed with memorable experiences, including swimming lessons focused on water safety, culinary classes, archery, dance, creative activities, and so much more.

These photos capture special moments from yesterday as our students prepared for yesterday’s Parent Showcase, along with highlights from the showcase itself. It was a joy to celebrate everything they learned and accomplished with their families.

Thank you to every parent who entrusted us with your children this summer, our dedicated summer camp directors and staff who poured into them each day, and our generous partners and supporters who made this life changing experience possible!
