🚨 Tomorrow morning at 10:30AM, I want to personally invite you to worship with us at Friendship Dallas as we continue Week 2 of our Summer Jamz Sermon Series! 🎶🔥

In light of the heartbreaking happenings in McKinney concerning young Karmelo Anthony, my heart is heavy for our sons. I’m asking every mother, father, grandmother, grandfather, auntie, uncle, mentor, and guardian to bring your sons to church tomorrow — especially our young Black sons — so that we can cover them in prayer. 🙏🏾

We want to pray over their lives, their futures, their minds, their protection, and their purpose. We still believe there is power in prayer, power in church family, and power in bringing our children before God.

It is with heavy hearts and sincere sadness, we announce the unexpected passing of our brother, Deacon Horthy Lee Johnson.

Deacon Johnson had just recently united with the Friendship Missionary Baptist Church of Dallas, and we were excited to see what God was going to do through him here at Friendship. His presence, his love for the Word of God , and his love for his bride, Sis. Dianne Johnson had already begun to bless us.

But while we were looking forward to what was ahead, God had something greater in mind. Deacon Johnson has received his reward for his faithfulness to God and his service to the body of Christ. Our hearts are truly broken, but our hope is still alive because we know the God we serve is faithful, even in moments we do not understand.

Psalm 34:18 reminds us, “The Lord is nigh unto them that are of a broken heart; and saveth such as be of a contrite spirit.”

We ask that you keep his beloved wife, Sis. Dianne Johnson, his sister-in-law, Min. Brenda Cooper, and the entire Johnson family lifted in prayer during this difficult time.

Friendship, let us mourn with hope, pray with love, and lean on the God who is near to the brokenhearted.

It is with heartfelt sympathy, yet with blessed assurance, that we announce the Homegoing Celebration for one of our dear Shipmates, Sis. Barbara McDowell. We thank God for her life, her love, her faith, and the beautiful impact she made among us. 💐🙏🏾

Please see the flyer below for all service information and join us as we celebrate a life well lived and a servant now resting in the arms of the Lord. ✝️🕊️

We are also asking our Friendship family to help us serve the family by bringing desserts for the repast. Your kindness, love, and support will be greatly appreciated. 🍰🍪🥧
