Often in Western culture, we tend to celebrate the lives of loved ones and not to grieve their loss. Rebecca Ashbrook Carrell joins Kay Daigle on the podcast to discuss how this approach to grief actually does more harm than good and how God’s Word presents another way.

She shares the truth that God gives us permission to grieve and offers us prescribed words and patterns in the Psalms of lament for bringing our grief to him. When we suppress grief or attempt to minimize the grief of others, we cannot fully experience the healing that God desires for us.

This conversation not only provides biblical insight into this necessary topic but also practical ideas for how to minister to others in seasons of deep grief. Watch or listen to the entire conversation available now: https://beyondordinarywomen.org/permission-to-grieve/

Host Sharifa Stevens is joined by Dr. Kelley Mathews on the podcast this week to discuss “Women Saints We Should Know.” Learning about these courageous women in early church history builds our faith as we see God’s character on display.

They discuss several women of faith, including: Perpetua, Felicity, Monica the Mother of Augustine, Brigid of Kildare, Hildegard of Bingen, and Clare of Assisi. These women are from different times and places but all share a deep faith in God and have lessons to teach us in living faithfully for Christ.
