We wrap up our Encounters With Jesus series in Mark 10:13–31, where two very different encounters reveal an important truth about entering the kingdom of God. Jesus welcomes children who come with nothing to offer but trust, while a rich young ruler approaches confident in his accomplishments and righteousness.

Through this contrast, Jesus challenges the ways we measure worthiness and spiritual success. The children remind us that salvation is received with humble dependence, not achieved through our own effort. The rich young ruler, despite his morality and success, struggles to surrender the very thing standing between him and wholehearted devotion to Christ.

This message invites us to examine what we are bringing to Jesus — our trust or our résumé. We're reminded that salvation is not something we can earn, but a gift of grace we receive by trusting and following him.

This Sunday, we continue our Encounters With Jesus series with two intertwined stories from Mark 5:21–43. Jairus comes to Jesus desperate for his dying daughter, while a woman who has suffered for 12 years reaches out to Jesus believing that even touching his clothes could bring healing. Both encounter Jesus in moments when hope seems to be slipping away.

These stories remind us that Jesus meets people in both public desperation and private suffering. He is never too hurried to notice the overlooked, and no situation is beyond his power — even when circumstances seem hopeless or God’s timing is difficult to understand.

This message invites us to trust Jesus in the waiting, the uncertainty, and the places where we have run out of answers. When we encounter him, we discover a Savior who sees us, cares for us, and is able to bring hope where we thought hope was gone.

Dallas, Texas - Aug. 4, 2026

Park Cities Baptist Church is honored to announce a new partnership with Baylor University’s George W. Truett Theological Seminary. Beginning in the fall of 2027, PCBC will serve as the Dallas campus for Truett Seminary, expanding access to theological education through in-person graduate degree programs in the DFW Metroplex.

PCBC Senior Pastor Dr. Jeff Warren shares, “We are thrilled to continue our 30-year partnership with Truett Seminary by offering theological education at the highest level on our campus for all of North Texas. It is a privilege to be in this beautiful kingdom partnership with Truett and its leaders, educators and students.”

Truett Dallas is planning to offer Master of Divinity, Master of Arts in Christian Ministry, and Master of Theological Studies degrees in their entirety through seminar-style, in-person instruction. Doctor of Ministry cohorts are also anticipated at Truett Dallas.

This Sunday, we're exploring 2 Chronicles 34:14–33 — looking at the life of King Josiah and the transforming power of God's Word. When the Book of the Law is rediscovered during the restoration of the temple, Josiah responds with humility, repentance, and a renewed commitment to follow the Lord, leading the nation toward spiritual renewal.

Josiah’s example reminds us that genuine faithfulness begins with listening to God's Word and allowing it to shape our hearts and actions. Rather than ignoring or explaining away God's truth, he receives it with humility and responds in obedience, demonstrating that lasting transformation starts with a willingness to hear and submit to God's voice.

This message challenges us to examine our own response to Scripture. As we listen to God's Word with open hearts, we are invited to experience renewal, deepen our obedience, and lead lives that reflect his truth in every area.

Music fans of all generations — you're invited for a special evening on Sunday, August 2! 🎶

At 6:00 p.m. in the Great Hall, you'll experience a joyful evening filled with timeless hymns, heartfelt harmonies, and old-fashioned fun.

The Old Fashioned Hymn Sing celebrates faith through music — complete with a live emcee, our amazing PCBC Noteables, your favorite PCBC singers, and some very special guests. But part of what makes this event so much fun is the audience participation. Throughout the evening, attendees will be able to make special requests from the Old Fashioned Hymn Sing Song Book and, of course, sing along!

After the music wraps at 7:00 p.m., stick around for ice cream sundaes in the Commons from 7:00 – 7:30 p.m.🍦

“As you celebrate our 250th anniversary today, I hope you will join me and my family as we pause and praise God for our country and the blessing he has given us to live in the United States of America. A healthy patriotism declares that it is in God we trust and seeks to praise him, and it also honors those who have gone before us and those who continue to guard and protect our freedom.

This is a time to rejoice, remember, repent, and restore all that we are and have back to him.

Perhaps the best way to celebrate our freedom is to exercise our religious liberty and gather to worship the Lord tomorrow. Invite your friends and family and join us at 10:00 a.m. in the Sanctuary to worship Jesus and celebrate our 250th anniversary together!”
