Rev. Dr. Tawana Angela Davis ~ known as Dr. TAD ~ is a retired ordained Itinerant Elder in the African Methodist Episcopal Church, a Womanist, metastatic breast cancer and domestic violence survivor, whose ministry weaves together justice, healing, and liberation. She holds a Master of Divinity from Turner Theological Seminary, a Master's and Ph.D. in Leadership and Change from Antioch University. As a Guest Professor at Turner Theological Seminary, she designed and launched the 32-Week Certificate in Womanism and Justice. Her ministry bridges rigorous theological scholarship with pastoral wisdom and life experience, centering Black women, femmes, and Black beloveds in every sacred space she leads.

Dr Orisha is one of our Residency Scholars sponsored by our Building New Tables Grant, a Compelling Preaching initiative funded by the Lilly Foundation. She also participated in our 12 Week Queering Womanist Preaching Cohort earlier this year.
Dr. Orisha is a highly accomplished professional with over 27 years of experience in social services, nonprofit leadership, grants management, program design, and civic engagement. She holds a PhD in Interdisciplinary Studies, a BFA, two MA degrees, and an MEd, alongside specialized credentials including a Graduate Certificate in Women and Gender Studies, a Certificate in Complementary Alternative Medicine, and licensure in Chaplaincy.
