Do not romanticize what God rescued you from.
There’s a temptation to look back on seasons of sin and only remember the parts we enjoyed. The “freedom,” the memories, the people, the temporary pleasure.
But nostalgia has a way of remembering the taste while forgetting the shackles.
In Exodus, the Israelites looked back at Egypt and missed the food they had there, seemingly forgetting that the same place that fed them also enslaved them.
And we can do the same thing.
Don’t let a difficult season in freedom convince you that slavery was better.
God didn’t bring you out so you could spend your life looking back.
