1. Love God with everything you are.
2. Love your neighbor as much as you love yourself.
3. Love one another like Jesus loves you.

This is the core of all Scripture, the common thread that holds it all together.

Love. That’s it. That’s the job description. Love. “Jooooohhhhnnnnn. You’ve already said this eleventy billion tiiiiiiimmmmesssss!”

So. A young preacher delivered his first sermon in his new church. People told him it was amazing. Next Sunday rolled around and he preached the exact same sermon again. Leadership thought, “It’s ok. He’s young. Just trying to get his feet under him. Let’s cut him some slack.” Next Sunday rolls around and he preaches the same sermon again. Leadership is a little more concerned but they wait. Fourth Sunday rolls around and, again, exact same sermon, word for word. Finally, leadership calls him into a meeting. “You’ve preached the same sermon four times. Is everything ok?” He replied, “Everything is great. And I’ll keep preaching the same sermon until I see some change in y’all.”

Yep. And I’ll preach it eleventy billion more times. I’ll preach love until I see some change … in me.

Y’all have an amazing Saturday and, don’t forget to get up, scrub up, and get on into church in the morning.

Ours is not a passive system of practices for self-improvement. We are not called to be pew polishers who sit around, contemplating self-help ideas. We are called to be active partners with God in the restoration of creation.

We are called to be engaged in the ongoing work of helping others find the Imagi Dei within, of helping them remove the layers of life that have muted the glory of their divinely created self. In short, we are here to help them rediscover their shine, their sparkle.

Jesus didn’t leave us any wiggle room; he commanded we GO into the world and transform it through active love. Not judgment, divine love.

Come hang out with us this Sunday as John dips into what it means to be engaged with our faith.

Howdy, Casa View CC family. ‘Tis John. Chiller system is working everywhere but the sanctuary. As much as I would love to have worship in there, it will be hot and humid … a whoopin'. So, we will have traditional worship, but in the Worship Center.
