Our Lenten journey together starts today on the way toward Easter Sunday! What are you going to do to grow closer to God during the next forty days?

It's tempting at the start of Lent to pick a bunch of things we want to change about ourselves. When we spread our focus too thin, though, it often results in us not accomplishing anything in the end.

The Church asks us to focus on prayer, fasting and almsgiving or charity. As we do that, ask yourself what is the one most positive change I could make to draw closer to God? Because ultimately, God wants the best possible relationship with us and that's what we should want as well.

Thank you for your prayers for the repose of the soul of Msgr. John F. Meyers. The funeral arrangements are as follows:

It is our sad duty to announce the death of Reverend Monsignor John ‘Jack’ Meyers who passed away yesterday, June 23rd, 2022.

Monsignor Meyers had been a priest for the Diocese of Dallas for 66 years. He was 91 years old.

Arrangements are set as follows:

Visitations:
4 - 7 p.m. on Friday, July 15th at St. Juan Diego Catholic Church, 10919 Royal Haven Lane, Dallas.

Funeral Mass:
10 a.m. on Saturday, July 16th at St. Monica Catholic Church, 9933 Midway Road, Dallas with a reception to follow.

Interment:
Procession to Calvary Hill will begin at 12:15 p.m.

Eternal rest grant unto Monsignor Meyers, O Lord, and may the perpetual light shine upon him. May he and all the faithful departed rest in peace. Amen.
