Today's Word Encouragement

Ephesians 3:20, 21
Now to Him who is able to do. . .
immeasurably more. . .
than all we ask or imagine,
according to His power. . .
that is at work within us,
to Him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, for ever and ever!
Amen.

In every one of the healings Jesus performed during His ministry here on earth, He voluntarily included the "forgiving of sins.
They got way more from Jesus than they ever imagined or even asked of Him."

This is the nature and the way of Our God today.
He wants to give more than we ask.
He stands ready to in His own words "pour out so much blessings that you will not have room enough for it."

Your family, your home, your health and your finances, your friends and relationships, and your worship. . .
all from Our God. . .
your life, from Our God.
He has more to give.
Why not trust Him today to give you more. . .
more than you ask. . .
more than you imagine.
Jesus says "ask."
"Ask, and it will be given to you."
Matthew 7:7

Today's Word Encouragement

Leviticus 26 excerpts
Do not make idols or set up an image or a sacred stone for yourselves, and do not place a carved stone in your land to bow down before it.
I am the Lord your God.
Observe My Sabbaths and have reverence for My Sanctuary, I am the Lord.
If you follow My decrees and are careful to obey My commands, I will send you rain in its season, and the ground will yield its crops and the trees of the field their fruit.
I will look on you with favor and make you fruitful and increase your numbers, and I will keep My covenant with you.
I will walk among you and be your God, and you will be My people.
I am the Lord your God, who brought you out of Egypt so that you would no longer be slaves to the Egyptians; I broke the bars of your yoke and enabled you to walk with heads held high.

This passage has a title which says Reward for Obedience, and it is staggering.
If we go along with God's ways for us. . .
we prosper.
He blesses us, abundantly.
He protects us.
The truth is Our God has already brought us out of our sin cursed lives.
And, He has forgiven us of our sins.
But He has more to give. . .
favor
healing
abundance
protection
wisdom
mercy
compassion
it's an endless list.
It is ours if we obey His instructions.

Jesus reduced it to two things:
Love God
Love each other
Can we do that?
If you and I can do that, the Rewards are ours.

1 John 2:1
My dear children, I write this to you so that you will not sin.
But if anybody does sin, we have One who speaks to the Father IN OUR DEFENSE---
Jesus Christ, the Righteous One.

Our God is for you.
He is not against you.
The same Saviour who took our sin debt, paid it in full, died in our place, gave His life for us and our children, also "speaks up for us when we have done wrong and sinned."

Later in this letter we read, "How great is the love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called the children of God!
And that is what we are!"

If Our God wants to take the very wrong of our lives and turn it to good, to something worthy, to make it right. . .
that is amazing!
Let's give Him the go ahead, and commit our lives to Him.

God loves you.
God loves me.
God loves us.
He just loves us.

By Pastor Jim Henvey:

Psalm 149:4
For the Lord takes delight in His people;
He crowns the humble with salvation.

New truths for most of us. Prior to this verse four revelation. . .
we read of. . .
a new song
His praise in the assembly
rejoice in our Maker
being glad in our King
praising His name with dancing
and making music to Him
Repeatedly, the Bible tells us of our God's great delight in us.
One of the Psalms reveals the existence of a "river of delights," which belongs to the Lord.

Our knowledge of the way of our God, is somewhat backward.
We tend to think those who are strong, powerful, wealthy and successful, that they are the ones who will receive Our God's ultimate favor.
And then we read this verse four, shattering our assumptions.
He delights most in those who show humility.
What's that?
Putting others first.

The angels who brought the birth news of a Savior, Jesus the Christ, brought it to the lowly shepherds.
God had made a way for us sinners.
"He will save His people from their sins."

The crown of Our God's salvation is for those who are willing to bow down and be humble.
Let me ask you, is that us?
If it is, Our God takes delight in us.

Matthew 9:9
As Jesus went on from there (having healed and forgiven the paralytic), He saw a man named Matthew sitting at the tax collector's booth.
"Follow Me," He told him, and Matthew got up and followed Him.

In the previous chapter, it's a l***r, an occupying army officer, disciples with more doubts than strengths, and people demon possessed.
So far Jesus has avoided our target group of decent and orderly citizens who can bring their talents and gifts into our place of worship.

Do you think we may have the priority list wrong or off some?
What did Jesus list all have in common?
They needed help, everyone of them.

If we were to take Our God's priority list and add to our pews and altars those who need a helping hand in their lives we might have to add more spaces for worship.

When I was a child the church helped my mother, she was raising two sons on her own.
When Sandy and I began our family the church helped us through the love and influence of Christian friends.
They prayed for us, accepted us, and our lives were forever changed.

Let's look together for those who need a hand today.
Jesus said "seek and you will find."

Matthew 18:11-14
The Son of Man came to save what was lost.
What do you think?
If a man owns 100 sheep, and one of them wanders away, will he not leave the 99 on the hills and go to look for the one that wandered off?
And if he finds it, I tell you the truth, he is happier about that one sheep than about the 99 that did not wander off.
In the same way your Father in heaven IS NOT WILLING that any of these little ones should be lost.

Eighteen chapters in, and we find Jesus doing and explaining what exactly He was sent here to do.
In the birth of Jesus story, we read. . .
"And you shall call Him Jesus, for He will save His people from their sins."
What sin does in our lives and the separation it causes us from the Father, Jesus came here to undo, to repair, to change it completely.

The scriptures are incredible and also very interesting and telling.
We are told in the early words of this very chapter to change, and become like little children.
Children need help, assistance and guidance.

However we have wandered away it is clear, Our God wants us back.
"He is not willing" to lose us!

Why not pray today and ask God Our Father to come and find you, and take you back into His presence?
He will, if you will.

Psalm 88:13
But I cry to You for help, O Lord;
in the morning my prayer comes before you.

The Psalmist has the right order of things, first things first, call for help. . .
call to the only One who can help
call sooner than later
call directly and personally.

Did you know when you call 911, they have to call someone.
That's not the way your call to God in prayer is.
Our God takes the initiative and the opportunity to change not only our circumstance but us!

Why is the Psalmist calling to God?
he needs help, a lot of help
he doesn't have what it takes
God has made him a promise to help him
the last time he called Our God came and rescued him

Why haven't we made the call?
Don't wait any longer to call Our God.
Call Him now.
Talk to Him about His "goodness".
He is our help.

Zephaniah 3:17
The Lord your God is with you, He is mighty to save.
He will take great delight in you, He will quiet you with His love, He will rejoice over you with singing.

This is the promise to all of God's children.
A personal relationship with Our Heavenly Father.
No one is as great as He is!
His one goal is to save us, and, He alone has the ability to do it.
There is no strength greater than Our God's might.

To think that it delights Him to save us is mind boggling,
He loves us.
He calms our fears out of His great love for us.
Wow!
Who does that?
Only Our God.

We are not the only ones singing.
Our God sings, in His joy? over us!
He rejoices over you and over me.
As if we were His favorite.
Thanks to Zephaniah for reminding us, and for telling it like it.

Luke 8:35-36
and the people went out to see what had happened.
When they came to Jesus, they found the man from whom the demons had gone out, sitting at Jesus' feet, dressed and in his right mind; and they were afraid.
Those who had seen it told the people how the demon-possessed man had been cured.

This real life event shows us exactly how Jesus works in our lives.
One conversation with the broken man.
One command to an evil spirit.
One personal visit between Jesus and a man who's life is tortured.

Jesus went to where the man was, and the man came to Him.
The change in the man's life was complete.
All of the demonstrations and self mutilations and strange behavior, gone.
You can do a lot when your mind is right.
"sitting at Jesus' feet, dressed and in his right mind."

I have seen this happen multiple times at our church.
My life was completely changed by God in 1983.
The biggest difference was that the selfishness was gone.
A consideration of others came to replace it.

The scripture tells us if we see a loved one like this man, in the control of a
"demon". . .
we should "pray". . .
and God will give them life.
1 John 5:16

Pray, not scold.
Pray, not berate.
Pray.
It's life changing.
Pray.

Psalm 102:19, 20
The Lord looked down from His sanctuary on high, from heaven He viewed the earth, to hear the groans of the prisoners and release those condemned to death.

Isaiah 55:1
Come, all you who are thirsty, come to the waters;
and you who have no money, come, buy and eat!
Come, buy wine and milk without money and without cost.

The Bible stays true to course, whether in Song or Prophecy. . .
it proclaims loudly and clearly. . .
God is for the oppressed, the destitute, the prisoners, those who are flat broke, and all of the down and outers.
The condemned are His target group, they are in His heart, on His mind, and in His sight.

God has something for them.
Compassion and love and mercy and yes, abundance.

How did we ever get a hold of the wrong list?
The rich, the successful, the strong, the brightest bulbs, the famous.
We've been handed the wrong list.

Let's fix that, now, today.
Let's get our eyes on those who are in Our God's sight.

Today, find an overlooked person. . .
and love them!
Share with them.
Bless them.
Help them.
Make a way for them.
There was a time when Our God made a way for you.
