In honor of Labor Day, parish offices will be closed Monday, September 7. Daily Mass remains at 8am on Monday. Normal office hours will resume on Tuesday, September 8.

Have you ever wondered why we do certain things at Mass, what the deeper meaning is behind certain phrases, or the theological significance of the order of the Mass?

Introducing our new series: Source & Summit! ✝️

In this series, we will be walking through the Mass and examining every rite, prayer, and gesture to unpack what they all mean.

The Eucharist is the source and summit of the Christian life — words from the Second Vatican Council meaning the Mass is not just where Catholic life goes, it’s where Catholic life comes from.

Here’s how Source & Summit will be broken down:

Part 1 — Foundations 📖 What is the Mass? Where did it come from? How is it structured?
Part 2 — Introductory Rites ✝️ How the Mass begins — and why it matters.
Part 3 — Liturgy of the Word 📜 Every reading has a reason.
Part 4 — Liturgy of the Eucharist ❤️‍🔥 The heart of it all, and the Real Presence of Christ.
Part 5 — Communion Rite 🙏 Preparing to receive — and what it means to actually receive Jesus Christ.
Part 6 — Concluding Rites 🕊️ The Mass ends and our mission begins — Ite, missa est.

DOMUS DEI: THE TABERNACLE 🦚

The crucifix stands ten feet tall — Christ crucified, with Mary His mother, Mary Magdalene, and the beloved disciple John at His feet. The same figures who stood on Calvary stand here still, witnesses to the sacrifice made present again at every Mass on the altar below.

The tabernacle before them is brass, ordered by Monsignor Gulczynski. Inside it, Christ remains. Not symbolically; truly. The God who hung on that cross above now waits in that vessel below, in the silence of the Blessed Sacrament.

Look above the tabernacle, beneath the canopy: peacocks drinking. The peacock has appeared in early Christian art as a symbol of the Resurrection and Eternal Life. Early Christians associated peacocks with the fountains of Paradise, souls drinking from the living water that is Christ Himself, present in that tabernacle.

This is where the series ends, because this is where everything ends. Every window, every rail, every relic, every carved image in this building was always pointing here. Not to an idea, but to a Person. The whole church is an arrow, and the tabernacle is where it lands.

This concludes the Domus Dei series.
