We are so grateful for your generosity that allows ministry students to receive the Ministerial Financial Assistance scholarship to best pursue the calling God has placed on their lives.

This week, we are excited to spotlight Reagan Laminack! Reagan is a student at Hardin-Simmons University and is majoring in Christian Studies.

Growing up with a chronic illness presents many struggles. I was diagnosed with cystic fibrosis at age two. I asked often, “why me?” However, as I got older, I became thankful for cystic fibrosis because of the opportunities I had to connect with people through my testimony. In my ministry, I make connecting with people through God’s love a priority. I was called to ministry my freshman year in high school. It took me several months to admit my call. I wrestled with the feeling of inadequacy. Many characters in the Bible, like Peter, helped me overcome this. I realized what I can do for the Kingdom relies on my obedience more than my abilities. My ministry began in high school at Christoval Baptist Church. I taught kids Sunday school, did the nursery, and worked at our after-school program until I left for college.

Hardin-Simmons University has been the biggest blessing to my ministry. By the end of my freshman year, I found an internship at a local Baptist church. Through
Hardin-Simmons partnership with Texas Baptists, I have been able to be a part of events like the Texas Baptists Annual Meeting. In addition, I have also been blessed to receive Texas Baptists Ministerial Financial Aid. This support has made finances much less stressful while pursuing God’s will for my life. Through my time at Hardin-Simmons, I have realized the importance of a Christian education. With the generosity of this scholarship, I have been amazingly blessed during my first year at HSU, and I am excited to see how I continue to grow academically and spiritually.

This month, we are spotlighting pastor Will Jackson from Bible Way Missionary Baptist Church in Copperas Cove, TX!

1. When and how did God call you to be a pastor?

I was asked to be the Pastor in Waiting at my present church in 2012 with a six-month transition. However, that did not take place, and in 2017 I began to preach in view of a call at two churches: one in Harker Heights and one in Jonestown. The Lord sometimes has a sense of humor, and on October 9, 2017, I woke up to the Lord's Voice telling me to remain where I was despite the other two churches voting me to be there next Pastor.

2. How has God worked through your church in a way that can encourage other churches?

Since becoming Pastor, we have burned our mortgage note, completed the Family Life Center, instituted an Annual Community Family Fest and done great and unimaginable things by the Grace and Power of God.

3. How can we pray for you and your church?

Please pray that we continue to see the grace of God and that our outreach programs continue to impact the community, and that the many we evangelize to will come to know Christ in the pardon of their sins.
