Located in

the heart of the Oak Cliiff community, DIUMC's mission is to respond to Jesus' call to welcome, inspire, encourage and equip members and individuals as disciples of Jesus Christ. Special programs include bible study, an annual revival, Watch Night, Native American Ministry Sunday, family picnics, chili cook-offs, Christmas celebrations, holiday dinners, church trips, and a family fall festival. Join us for fun and fellowship with programs and activities for children, youth, singles, couples, men and women. SilverFeather elders meet every Thursday morning for bible study, lunch and to plan monthly activities. Within The United Methodist Church, there are approximately 111 Native American congregations. Eighty-four are part of Oklahoma Indian Missionary Conference (OIMC). The Conference gives voice to Native Americans and meets the mandate as outlined in the Book of Discipline which “serves to remind the Church of the gifts and contributions made by Native Americans to our society.” We seek to challenge the understanding of radical discipleship and our passion for the Lord as indigenous people to be called out into the world as disciples of Christ in communities that minister to those who suffer from being marginalized and disenfranchised. The Purpose of OIMC is to reach Native Americans in Oklahoma (including adjorning areas) with the Good News of Jesus Christ through United Methodist witness. Present membership is approximately 6,000 with 84 established churches, five fellowships and a Church & Community Center. Most of the churches are in Oklahoma however we have one church in Dallas, TX; three churches and one fellowship in Kansas.

The United Nations General Assembly takes a historic step: it officially adopts the International Day of Indigenous Women, a date dedicated to recognizing and honoring the strength, wisdom, and leadership of millions of Indigenous Women from the seven sociocultural regions of the world.

International Day of the World’s Indigenous Women and Girls | September 5, 2026

Indigenous Peoples, and especially Indigenous women, have always been at the forefront of movements to defend rights, lands, and cultures. This year marks the first official commemoration of the International Day of the World’s Indigenous Women and Girls, by virtue of the resolution (A/RES/80/10) adopted by the United Nations, recognizing their historic leadership and advancing global commitment to their rights.

Indigenous women and girls continue to serve as leaders, knowledge‑bearers, and agents of change. Yet they face intersectional discrimination — not only for being women and Indigenous, but also due to poverty, age, language, and geographic isolation. These overlapping barriers disproportionately impact them. Despite these challenges, they thrive as stewards of lands, territories, and resources, and remain the backbone of their communities.

In this celebration, Tebtebba Foundation supports the campaign of the International Indigenous Women’s Forum (FIMI), Indigenous Women Have Always Led: Driving Global Commitment.

Yes, Indigenous women have always led. Today, we call on governments, institutions, and civil society organizations to recognize, support, and invest in Indigenous women and girls’ rights. This is essential to building resilient communities and a sustainable planet.

This commemoration is not only symbolic but also a call to action: to fully and effectively implement CEDAW General Recommendation No. 39 on the rights of Indigenous women and girls, particularly by:
· Recognizing Indigenous women’s historic leadership.
· Supporting their ongoing struggles and contributions.
· Investing in Indigenous women and girls’ rights for a more resilient and sustainable future.

If that person refuses to listen to them, tell it to the church, and if the offender refuses to listen even to the church, let such a one be to you as a gentile and a tax collector. Matthew 18:17 NRSV

Some conversations can’t end when the event does.

They have to move into our schools.
Into our communities.
Into our policies.
Into our families.
And into the way we show up for one another.

That’s what we’re building at the 3rd Annual United Natives MMIR Summit — a space for honest conversations, diverse perspectives, and ideas that can move from awareness to action.

This year’s conversations include:

🗣️ Voices to Action
Turning lived experiences and community voices into meaningful action.

🎰 Gaming, Hospitality & Policy
Exploring the role of Tribal gaming, hospitality, policy addressing human trafficking intersection.

🤝 Male Allyship
Creating space for men to understand their role in supporting Native women, families, and communities.

🏳️‍🌈 LGBTQIA+
Centering the experiences, voices, and safety of our LGBTQIA+ relatives within the MMIR conversation.

🧠 Healing the Mind: Honoring the Spirit
Exploring culturally grounded approaches to healing, wellness, identity, and the connection between mind, spirit, culture, and community.

And we’re starting the conversation before the Summit begins.
