Mission isn’t about sitting back or giving instructions from a distance. True mission happens when we step onto the road alongside people—wherever they are, whatever they are carrying, and even when they feel lost.

In the Gospel, Jesus didn’t wait for the disciples on the road to Emmaus to have everything figured out. He walked beside them, listened to their doubts, and warmed their hearts along the way. That same call to accompany others belongs to all of us today.

"Jesus walks alongside the two disciples on the way to Emmaus, even though they are going in the wrong direction… He shows that his time is their time as he listens unconditionally."— Pope Francis, Christus Vivit (292)

What Accompaniment as Mission Looks Like for Everyone:

Making room in our schedules: Accompaniment means giving our time freely—valuing people over tasks.

Listening without judgment: Creating a safe, compassionate space where others can share their doubts, struggles, and hopes.

Pointing toward hope: We don't need to force answers; we simply walk together until Christ illuminates the path.

Happy Feast Day of Saint Teresa of Avila! 🌹✨

Today, as we honor the great Doctor of the Church, contemplative, and reformer, Saint Teresa of Avila, we are invited to look at a secret behind her profound spiritual life: her quiet, unshakeable devotion to Saint Joseph.

When Teresa suffered a devastating illness that left her paralyzed and presumed dead, she turned to Saint Joseph as her advocate and guardian. He did not just heal her body—he walked with her through every trial, teaching her how to pray and draw closer to Christ.

In her Autobiography, Saint Teresa leaves us with these beautiful words:

"If anyone cannot find a master to teach him how to pray, let him take this glorious saint as his master and he will not go astray."

🌿 Saint Joseph & The Spirituality of Accompaniment
What does Saint Teresa’s devotion teach us about accompaniment today?

Scripture records not a single word spoken by Saint Joseph. Yet, his whole life was a testimony of presence, protection, and silent action:

🚶‍♂️ He walked alongside Mary and Jesus through uncertainty—fleeing to Egypt in the night and making a humble home in Nazareth.

🤝 He journeyed in the background, content to let the light shine on Jesus while faithfully doing the Father’s will step by step.

🙏 He accompanied Saint Teresa centuries later, showing up in her deepest moments of darkness, paralysis, and doubt to guide her soul.

True spiritual accompaniment doesn't always require loud declarations or grand gestures. Like Saint Joseph, it means showing up quietly in someone’s life, bearing their burdens, walking beside them in their paralysis or pain, and gently pointing them toward Christ.

Saint Teresa reminds us that we never have to walk the spiritual journey alone. God sends us companions—both in Heaven and on Earth—to direct our prayers, keep us steady, and walk us home.

“Do not have any anxiety about the future. Leave everything in God’s hands for he will take care of you.”

So many of us carry an overwhelming weight on our shoulders—worrying about tomorrow, stressing over decisions, and feeling consumed by the unknown. Mental fatigue and anxiety often come from trying to control every detail of a future we cannot see.

Surrendering isn't giving up or ignoring our struggles—it is choosing to rest in the trust that God is already present in your tomorrows. When you surrender your worries, fears, and doubts, you make room for God’s quiet peace to steady your heart today.
