PRAISE THE LORD, YE HEAVENS ADORE HIM!:
Jesus said that one of the main attributes of a Christian was to come to the aid of widows and orphans. In the 1730's Captain Thomas Coram was desperate to help the dozens of "foundlings" left on the streets of London every month, many left to die on garbage heaps. His appeal was often meant with deaf ears, but he persevered and that persistence paid off. God opened the way for one of the most revered institutions in England. This hymn is a testimony to God's goodness to those in need.

LYRICS:
1 Praise the Lord! ye heav'ns adore him;
Praise him angels, in the height;
Sun and moon, rejoice before him;
Praise him, all ye stars of light.
Praise the Lord! for he has spoken;
Worlds his mighty voice obeyed;
Laws which never shall be broken
For their guidance he has made.

2 Praise the Lord! for he is glorious;
Never shall his promise fail;
God has made his saints victorious;
Sin and death shall not prevail.
Praise the God of our salvation!
Hosts on high his pow'r proclaim;
Heav'n, and earth, and all creation,
Laud and magnify his name.

3 Worship, honor, glory, blessing,
Lord, we offer unto thee;
Young and old, thy praise expressing,
In glad homage bend the knee.
All the saints in heav'n adore thee,
We would bow before thy throne;
As thine angels serve before thee,
So on earth thy will be done.

Hymn Story Preview: Charles Fry, a builder and musician in England, was an early follower of William Booth and the Salvation Army. Gospel preachers were often harassed on the city streets so Charles and his three strapping sons decided to assist the local Salvation Army preacher. The weapons they brought were unique and the venture was successful. Their strategy became a hallmark all over the world. Listen to the full story as told by Dr. Robert Morgan.

LYRICS
1. I have found a friend in Jesus, He's everything to me
He's the fairest of ten thousand to my soul
The lily of the valley and in Him alone I see
All I need to cleanse and make me fully whole
In sorrow He's my comfort in trouble He's my stay
He tells me every care on Him to roll
CHORUS: He's the lily of the valley He's the bright and morning star
He's the fairest of ten thousand to my soul

2. He all my grief has taken and all my sorrows borne
In temptation He's my strong and mighty tower
I have all for Him forsaken and all my idols torn
From my heart and now I know He'll keep me by His power
Though all the world forsake me and old Satan he tempts me sore
Through Jesus I shall safely reach that goal
CHORUS: He's the lily of the valley He's the bright and morning star
He's the fairest of ten thousand to my soul

3. He will never never leave me nor yet forsake me here
While I live by faith and do His blessed will
It's a wall of fire about me but I've nothing now to fear
With His manna He my hungry soul is gonna fill
Then I'll go sweeping up to Glory to see His blessed face
Where rivers of delight shall ever roll
CHORUS: He's the lily of the valley He's the bright and morning star
He's the fairest of ten thousand to my soul

Hymn Story Teaser: Pain, sorrow and disappointment were often the stepping stones for many of the great hymnists. So it was for Louisa M.R. Stead. She felt a call to the mission field at a young age but health and tragedy hindered that fulfillment. She married and several years later bore a child, Lily. During an oceanside picnic her husband jumped in to rescue a child and drowned in the attempt. But that tragedy did not deter her call and soon after she and Lily served in South Africa. There she wrote this hymn to her "precious Jesus". Her daughter Lily followed her in mission work in Rhodesia and continued Louisa's legacy of love for the lost.

LYRICS:
1
’Tis so sweet to trust in Jesus,
Just to take Him at His word;
Just to rest upon His promise;
Just to know, Thus saith the Lord.
Jesus, Jesus, how I trust Him,
How I’ve proved Him o’er and o’er,
Jesus, Jesus, Precious Jesus!
O for grace to trust Him more.
2
O how sweet to trust in Jesus,
Just to trust His cleansing blood;
Just in simple faith to plunge me,
’Neath the healing, cleansing flood.
Jesus, Jesus, how I trust Him,
How I’ve proved Him o’er and o’er,
Jesus, Jesus, Precious Jesus!
O for grace to trust Him more.
3
Yes, ’tis sweet to trust in Jesus,
Just from sin and self to cease;
Just from Jesus simply taking
Life, and rest, and joy, and peace.
Jesus, Jesus, how I trust Him,
How I’ve proved Him o’er and o’er,
Jesus, Jesus, Precious Jesus!
O for grace to trust Him more.
4
I’m so glad I learned to trust Thee,
Precious Jesus, Savior, Friend;
And I know that Thou art with me,
Wilt be with me to the end.
Jesus, Jesus, how I trust Him,
How I’ve proved Him o’er and o’er,
Jesus, Jesus, Precious Jesus!
O for grace to trust Him more.

Hymn Story Teaser: Frances Ridley Havergal was an accomplished vocalist, popular in society, and had a large jewelry collection. But her heart was not at peace until she gave her life fully to Christ. She became an ardent soul-winner and devoted her life the advancement of God's kingdom. This hymn became the call on her life as it should for all believers.

LYRICS:
1
Take my life, and let it be
Consecrated, Lord, to Thee;
Take my moments and my days,
Let them flow in ceaseless praise,
Let them flow in ceaseless praise.
2
Take my hands, and let them move
At the impulse of Thy love;
Take my feet and let them be
Swift and beautiful for Thee,
Swift and beautiful for Thee.
3
Take my voice, and let me sing
Always, only, for my King;
Take my lips, and let them be
Filled with messages from Thee,
Filled with messages from Thee.
4
Take my silver and my gold;
Not a mite would I withhold;
Take my intellect, and use
Every power as Thou shalt choose,
Every power as Thou shalt choose.
5
Take my will, and make it Thine;
It shall be no longer mine.
Take my heart; it is Thine own;
It shall be Thy royal throne,
It shall be Thy royal throne.
6
Take my love; my Lord, I pour
At Thy feet its treasure-store.
Take myself, and I will be
Ever, only, all for Thee,
Ever, only, all for Thee.
