Plaid Door Dallas The Plaid Door is a resale shop that was established in 1953. It is located behind St. Luke’s Episcopal Church in Dallas and staffed entirely by volunteers.

The store officially opened in 1953 in vacated Quonset huts, selling gently worn children’s clothing, religious items, and gift wrapping. James Avery placed his jewelry in the store. The present building was purchased in 1974. Merchandise has expanded to include gently worn (although some items are brand new) women’s and men’s clothing and accessories, jewelry, linens, and household goods. POLICIE

We take donations any time we are open (Thursday through Saturday, 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 pm). We no longer accept items on consignment (due to Covid-19 and significant loss of volunteer staff). CONDITIONS OF SALE:
NO refunds or exchanges
Cash, Check and Credit/Debit Card
$25.00 charge for each returned check


The money made in the store goes to a quarterly gift to St. Luke’s Episcopal Church and it’s Ministries (50%) and to outreach organizations (50%). We help such organizations as North Dallas Shared Ministries, Hope Cottage, Patriot Paws, Nexus and many more. Unsold clothing is donated to Souls Harbor, and other organizations in need.

The new road in front of Cook Hall and The Plaid Door is open and the parking spaces are striped. The entrances to the Scout Hut and shopping center parking lots remain closed to prevent heavy trucks from making deliveries to the shopping center stores.

The Plaid Door will reopen on Thursday, January 9th.

Customers and Volunteers will need to use the shopping center alleys off Royal Lane, Preston Road or Jamestown to access the Scout Hut parking lot and then walk across the new street to the shop.
The new street will be able to handle foot traffic but not car or trucks until the curing process has been completed.
(About 2 weeks)
