From Regret to Resurrection: A 5-Day Devotional Journey

Day 2: The God of Second Chances
Reading: Luke 22:54-62; John 21:15-17
Devotional: Peter denied Jesus three times by a charcoal fire. Now Jesus restores him three times by another charcoal fire. The place of shame became the place of restoration. God doesn't avoid our painful memories; He redeems them. Jesus asked Peter three times, "Do you love me?" not to condemn, but to give him three opportunities to publicly confess what he had privately denied. Your failure is not final. The omnipotent, holy God is more gracious and merciful to repentant sinners than other sinners are to each other. While the world offers one strike and you're out, Jesus offers forgiveness and complete restoration. He takes you back to the place of your failure to heal you there.

Reflection: What failure haunts you? Will you let Jesus transform that place of regret into restoration?

Ever felt like your past failures disqualified you from God's purpose? Peter did too. After denying Jesus three times, h...

Ever felt like your past failures disqualified you from God's purpose? Peter did too. After denying Jesus three times, he went back to fishing—back to his old life. But Jesus wasn't done with him.

On that same Sea of Galilee where Jesus first called Peter, the resurrected Christ appeared again. By a charcoal fire—the same setting as Peter's denial—Jesus asked three times: "Do you love me?" Three denials, three opportunities for restoration. This wasn't condemnation; it was resurrection.

Your failure is not final. The long night is over. Jesus stands on your shore, calling you back to the purpose He designed for you. He's the God of second chances, ready to resurrect your dreams, restore your calling, and renew your hope. If He brought Peter from regret to restoration, He'll do the same for you.

The enemy whispers you're finished. But Jesus says, "Come back. I'm not done with you yet."

From Regret to Resurrection: A 5-Day Devotional Journey

Day 1: When Night Turns to Morning
Reading: John 21:1-6
Devotional: Peter returned to what he knew—fishing—after his greatest failure. He spent the long night catching nothing, exhausted and discouraged. But when morning broke, Jesus was standing on the shore. The transition from night to day in John's gospel is never accidental; it represents the shift from despair to hope, from death to life. Your longest night may feel endless, but Jesus stands at the horizon of your new day. Whatever you've returned to in your disappointment, whatever nets have come up empty, know this: the breaking dawn brings divine appointments. Jesus pursues you even when you've gone backward. He meets you right where you are, ready to transform your emptiness into abundance.

Reflection: What "night" are you currently experiencing? Can you trust that morning is breaking?

5-Day Devotional: Living in the Power of Pentecost

Day 5: Responding to God's Presence
Reading: Acts 2:37-41; Jude 1:20-21
Devotional: When God's presence overwhelms us, human responses vary, some are amazed, some ask questions, and others mock. But we cannot expect people to encounter the omnipotent God and remain stoic. The world isn't turned off by passion in the church; they're repelled by lifeless religion. While we don't seek emotional responses, neither should we forbid or suppress them. Let God be God and people be people. Build yourself up in your most holy faith by praying in the Holy Spirit. This isn't just a one-time event but a continual filling, "be being filled." Like a well of living water that springs up to eternal life, let the Spirit flow freely through you. Dig out the old wells stopped up by the junk of this world. Let no soul leave hungry or thirsty today.

5-Day Devotional: Living in the Power of Pentecost

Day 4: Supernatural Power for Natural People
Reading: Luke 24:45-49; John 14:15-18, 26
Devotional: The disciples who walked with Jesus, heard His teaching, witnessed His miracles, and touched His resurrected body still needed the promised power of the Holy Spirit. If Peter, James, John, and Mary needed this supernatural endowment, how much more do we? Jesus knew that to be faithful witnesses in a hostile world, they would need divine help. He promised another Helper—the Spirit of truth who would remain with them forever. You cannot fully explain the baptism in the Holy Spirit, but you can experience its reality. There is an impartation of divine power when the Spirit flows through your life. Many times when we feel weak and want to give up, praying in the Spirit brings refreshing, joy, peace, and strength to run another mile in this journey of faith.

5-Day Devotional: Living in the Power of Pentecost

Day 3: Available to All Believers
Reading: Acts 10:44-48; Acts 2:38-39
Devotional: "The promise is for you and your children and all who are far off." Pentecost was never intended to be a one-time historical event locked in the past. The book of Acts records multiple occasions when the Holy Spirit was poured out on believers, including Gentiles in Cornelius's house. Peter knew they had received the same gift because he heard them speaking in tongues, just as the 120 had in the beginning. There is only one Holy Spirit, not a watered-down version for the 21st century. The same Spirit that fell in Jerusalem nearly 2,000 years ago is available to every hungry, thirsty believer today. Jesus, seated at the right hand of the Father, continues to baptize His people with the Holy Spirit and fire.

5-Day Devotional: Living in the Power of Pentecost

Day 2: Signs of the Last Days
Reading: Acts 2:14-21; Ephesians 5:15-18
Devotional: Peter boldly declared on the day of Pentecost, "This is that which was spoken by the prophet Joel." We have been living in the "last days" for nearly 2,000 years, the final dispensation before Christ's return. While wars, famines, and moral decay signal the end times, so does the unprecedented outpouring of God's Spirit. It's no coincidence that where the church is most Pentecostal, it is growing most rapidly. Pentecost was originally a harvest celebration, and it remains about harvest today, an end-time ingathering of souls. Don't be drunk with wine, but be continually filled with the Holy Spirit. Like the five wise virgins who kept oil in their lamps, we must stay full of the Spirit to be ready when the Bridegroom appears.

5-Day Devotional: Living in the Power of Pentecost

Day 1: The Promise Fulfilled
Reading: Acts 2:1-4; Joel 2:28-29
Devotional: God's promises are never empty words, they reveal both our need and His will for our lives. The outpouring of the Holy Spirit at Pentecost was not a spontaneous event but the fulfillment of ancient prophecies spoken through Joel, Ezekiel, and Jeremiah. What God promised through the prophets, He delivered in that upper room. Under the old covenant, God's law was written on stone tablets at Mount Sinai. But at Pentecost, God wrote His law on hearts of flesh through His indwelling Spirit. This same promise is for you today. If God promised it, He wants you to have it. If He promised it, you need it. The Helper has come, and He remains with us forever, empowering us to live victoriously for Christ in a hostile world.
