After an incredible weekend of celebrating our 50th Church Anniversary…from the Thy Kingdom Run 5K & Community Fair to Sunday’s anniversary celebration…the joy continues this week at Family VBS.

What a gift it was to worship together, celebrate together, and thank God for the people, memories, and Kingdom impact that have shaped Oak Cliff Bible Fellowship for five decades.

And we’re not done yet.

Today, we celebrate 50 years of Kingdom Building at Oak Cliff Bible Fellowship.

For five decades, God has faithfully used OCBF as a church in the neighborhood with a heart for the nations—discipling the Church to impact the world. What began as a vision has become a living testimony of God’s faithfulness through generations of people committed to His Kingdom agenda.

As Dr. Tony Evans reminded us today, we are citizens of God’s Kingdom—not part-time Christians, but full-time servants of the King.

What a gift it is to gather across generations to celebrate all God has done: lives transformed, families strengthened, leaders developed, and communities impacted through the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

Fifty years of Kingdom Building. Fifty years of God’s faithfulness. And by His grace, the story continues.

Here’s to the legacy behind us and the Kingdom work ahead.

50 years ago, a young seminary graduate named Tony Evans and his wife Lois opened their living room to ten people with a hunger for the Word. No building. No budget. Just a call, and the faith to answer it.

June 6, 1976, Rev. Tony Evans and Rev. Crawford Loritts chartered Oak Cliff Bible Fellowship.

What followed is nothing short of a miracle. From that living room to the Cabana Room at Briargate Apartments. From the Lutheran church on Hampton to Adelle Turner and Carter High School. Through every transition, Oak Cliff Bible Fellowship kept growing, because what God builds, no one can stop.

Today, what stands on Camp Wisdom Road reflects 50 years of worship, education, fellowship, and outreach, four vital experiences that have shaped a community committed to one vision: To have transformed lives that transfer the values of the Kingdom of God.

And now, through Kingdom Everywhere, that vision extends far beyond one address, with Kingdom Communities planted across the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex, meeting people right where they are.

There has always been a church in the neighborhood. And that church has always had a mission.

Years of showing up.

For some, OCBF has been home for months.

This Sunday, we celebrate the 50th Anniversary of Oak Cliff Bible Fellowship… five decades of Kingdom building, transformed lives, and the faithfulness of God across generations.

And joining us for this historic celebration is our founder, Dr. Tony Evans.

What began in 1976 has become a testimony of God’s grace, His Word, and His Kingdom impact through a church committed to making disciples and changing lives.

You’re exhausted…but what if that’s not the badge of honor you think it is?

Some of us have turned faith into grinding harder, pushing harder, carrying everything ourselves.

Row harder. Perform harder. Hold it together harder.

But what if you were never meant to power your way through life?

There’s a difference between rowing and sailing.

One depends completely on your strength.
The other learns how to move with a power beyond yourself.

Maybe you’re not failing.

Maybe you’re tired from choosing the hard way.

In this season of celebrating 50 years of God’s faithfulness, Sunday gave us another timely reminder that we were never meant to do life in our own strength.

Pastor Bryan Loritts brought a powerful word from Ephesians 5:15–21 that challenged us to stop rowing our way through faith, pressure, relationships, and everyday life…and learn what it means to be filled by the Spirit.

Not more striving.
Not more self-power.
Real surrender.

Because sometimes the deeper question isn’t “Do I have the keys?”

It’s “Who am I handing them to?”
