NorthPark Presbyterian Church

NorthPark Presbyterian Church Welcoming Thinkers, Seekers, and Doers. Member Presbyterian Church (USA). We were the first Presbyterian Church and the second house of worship built in Dallas.

NorthPark Presbyterian Church was organized in 1867 as the First Cumberland Presbyterian Church. We have moved five times over the last one hundred and forty five years. However we have carried the stained glass windows in our current sanctuary with us and they date back to 1917. As you enter the sanctuary, you will notice that the stained-glass window at the back of the sanctuary depicts Jesus Ch

rist with open arms. This window was purposefully placed at the back of the sanctuary instead of the front to indicate Jesus’ invitation to not get too comfortable inside, but instead to go out into God’s world performing acts of justice and mission. While we have a long history of excellent Christian education, music, and worship, God’s call to be involved in mission is pivotal to our identity. We support thirteen different social service agencies with time, talent, and money, house an Alzhiemer’s respite program, have regular missions events and trips including an adult mission trip to Kenya. One-tenth of our membership is originally from Africa and as a part of our Capital Campaign in 2010 we committed to building an eye clinic in Africa. We have also recently started several new mission initiatives in the Vickery Meadow area of Dallas including a homeless prevention program. We hope that you find this to be a place of hospitality, grace, and inspiration in the time that you are here. We look forward to worshiping with you. Grace and peace.

We worship at 10:00 AM through Sunday, September 6. Kick-Off Sunday is September 13 when Faith Formation resumes, and there is one worship service at 11:00 AM followed by a BBQ lunch. The 8:30 AM worship service resumes September 20.

Centering Practices meets Sunday in the Lounge from 9:15 - 9:45 AM. Finding stillness in contemplative prayer, we practice setting aside our individual desires to listen for the desires God places on our hearts.

CENTENARIAN CELEBRATION: We celebrate Polly Dunlap this Sunday, June 7, in honor of her 100th birthday, which she marked on June 3. Flowers are provided by her daughter, Ruth Wadsworth, to commemorate this special occasion.

Can we be comfortable with being uncomfortable?

Too often, we force unity at the expense of authenticity just to keep the peace. But what if the "messy middle" isn’t something to rush through? What if it’s an invitation—a space where we are stretched, expanded, and invited to grow?

Learning to sit in the tension might just be a helpful way to live. How are you navigating the messy middle lately?

What an incredible weekend at the NorthPark All Church Mission Trip! 💙
We had 30 volunteers out in the community making a difference:

🏠 Painted a home with Habitat for Humanity
♿ Built wheelchair ramps with the Texas Ramp Project
👵 Shared joy and activities at two local nursing homes
🌸 Built beautiful flower boxes for a group home supporting expectant mothers
🐴 Repaired fences at an equine therapy center for children and adults with special needs

We are so grateful for the chance to serve and share love across our city. Thank you to everyone who showed up and worked hard!
