Saint Jude Chapel, located in the heart of downtown Dallas, has been serving in ministry to the business community and the Diocese of Dallas at large for over 50 years. Dedicated on September 15, 1968, the chapel is the full realization of a dream nurtured in the loving hearts of Rev. Hughes and friends for more than a quarter of a century. Jude Chapel maintains a quiet, peaceful, meditative envir

onment in the presence of Jesus Christ in the Most Blessed Sacrament. Stained glass windows are provided with illuminated panels depicting the Stations of the Cross. The illuminated panels create an illusion of sunlight, and the chapel takes on a breadth greater than its actual dimensions. The cathedral sweep of the chapel ceiling is crowned with a stained-glass skylight. Office workers and guests of the downtown hotels hurry to attend the daily Masses and confession. The Chapel Staff consists of the Chaplain, Manager, the Gift Shop Coordinator and dedicated volunteers. If you are interested in becoming a volunteer, please reach out to [email protected].

June is dedicated to the Sacred Heart of Jesus. Thank you Catholic Marketing Network for sharing!

"As we enter the month of June, the Church invites us to reflect on the Sacred Heart of Jesus—a symbol of Christ's boundless love, mercy, and compassion for each of us.

May this month be an opportunity to draw closer to His Heart through prayer, trust, and acts of charity.

The United States Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB) is consecrating the United States to the Sacred Heart of Jesus on Thursday, June 11, 2026..."

We wanted to share this with you as many of our guests have been following Monsignor Don Fischer and his Pastoral Reflections Institute. Rest in peace.

"It is with heavy hearts, yet profound gratitude for a life well-lived, that we share the passing of our beloved founder, Monsignor Don Fischer, on May 24, 2026.

Msgr. Don was the heart and soul of Pastoral Reflections Institute. His vision and unwavering dedication to helping all who listened find healing, hope, and growth in God’s love have profoundly impacted us all. He taught us to both be our authentic self and to love one another, with grace through God’s indwelling presence. That light is foundational as the Institute continues his faithful mission.

Msgr. Don was not only our spiritual leader, but also a mentor who lived the very principles he taught. While he faithfully served as a priest for 59 years, he spent more than 30 years building the spiritual foundation of Pastoral Reflections Institute through his messages, interpretations, and reflections. His presence will be deeply missed, but his wisdom, compassion, and legacy will continue to guide and inspire others through the ongoing work of the Institute.

Services are tentative at the moment. Click the button below to visit our website for the latest updates and most current information.

To honor his request and in lieu of flowers or other honorariums, the family requests that donations be made to Pastoral Reflections Institute. Our goal is to move seamlessly in continuation of Msgr. Don’s life-giving message of faith, reflection, and hope for reaching and inspiring future generations. Your support will directly serve to carry forward the work and ministry that defined his life and touched countless hearts.

In peace,
The Pastoral Reflections Institute Team

These Flashbacks are great! Here is one written by Paula Bosse "The Praetorian Building and Its 19th-Century Neighbors."
That's us - one of its neighbors.
We once were the home to the Empire Movie House (nickelodeon) and the New Brunswick Billiard Hall. Later it became the New Empire Theater and then the Orpheum (for vaudeville). In 1914 our address became 1521 Main Street (or 1521-1523 Main Street) and became a movie picture house again. Woolworths absorbed it in 1920 and then it became a jewelry store in 1953 (Shaw Jewelry Company) and in 1968, we came along. Pretty cool.
