Adat Shalom 5.29.26 "Messiah's Response to Temple Impurity" Mark 11:12-19

Our celebration of the feast of Shavuot last Friday night was a wonderful time of worship, study, warm fellowship and great food. A big thank you to all who participated and served in the celebration. This week we will return to our teaching series in the book of Mark. When we left off, Jesus had just arrived in Jerusalem in what would be His final week of ministry before His death. After spending Shabbat in Bethany, Jesus sent for a c**t, the foal of a donkey, upon which no one had ever ridden. That Sunday, He
rode triumphantly into Jerusalem and was received by many as the Messianic King. This was to fulfill a prophecy written in Zechariah which declared, "Behold your King is coming to you, gentle, and mounted on a donkey, even on a c**t, the foal of a beast of burden." (Matthew 21:5) This week's message will cover the ministry of the Messiah on Monday, the next day. We will be studying two key events on that day; the cursing of a fig tree, and the cleansing of the temple (11:12-19). There is much to say about these two incidents, and Messiah's purposes in doing them. So come join us this Friday evening for Shabbat services beginning at 7:30 P.M. We will have joyful worship, a Torah devotional, our message in Mark, and warm food and fellowship at the close of our service. We hope you will join us for a great time of worship and fellowship.

Adat Shalom 5.22.26
Celebrating the Feast of Shavuot & Communion

Well, we finished the book of Revelation last Friday, and what an amazing teaching series it was. Many thanks to Daniel for the many hours of study and preparation he put in to give us a thorough verse by verse study in this very challenging prophetic book. This Friday we will be celebrating the Feast of Shavuot, the Feast of "Weeks". It is called the Feast of Weeks because it is celebrated seven weeks plus one day (50 days) from our last celebration which was the Feast of "Firstfruits"; which took place on the 2nd day of Passover - the 16th of Nisan. Shavuot is called the second "firstfruits" because on this day the firstfruits of the wheat harvest would be offered by Israel to the Lord. Shavuot is also called the season of the giving of the Law because of a more recent emphasis that the Law was given to Israel on Shavuot. For believers, Shavuot has great significance because the Holy Spirit was "poured out" upon Messiah's disciples, empowering them to share the good news of the gospel message of salvation during this feast. Beginning in Judea and Samaria, the gospel would now be spread to "the remotest part of the earth" (Acts1:8). Historically, this would be a Shavuot that would change the world, as the gospel has brought about a "spiritual harvest" of countless millions since that time; a fulfilling of Messiah's great commission that continues to this very day. So come join us this Friday evening for Shabbat service as we celebrate and learn about "the Shavuot that changed the world", as well as enjoy the customs and traditions associated with this feast. We invite you to bring dairy foods, fruits, nuts, or other sweet things for our special Shavuot oneg.

Our services will begin at 7:30 P.M. We will have wonderful worship, a Shavuot introduction, a special message, and we will take Communion together this evening. We will end the night with warm food and fellowship at the close of our services. I believe a good time will be had by all, so come join us for the experience. See you there.

Shavuot Service – Fri, May 22nd, 7:30pm - Shavuot, also called the Feast of Weeks, is a harvest festival. Traditionally, the Jewish people commemorate this as the time when Moses received the Ten Commandments at Mount Sinai. The word Shavuot means weeks, and the festival of Shavuot marks the completion of the seven-week counting period between Passover and Shavuot. It is one of the three Biblical pilgrimage festivals where the Jewish people were commanded to go up to Jerusalem and marks the conclusion of the Counting of the Omer, which began on the 2nd day of Passover. In the New Covenant, this is the time in the book of Acts where there was a great spiritual harvest when the Holy Spirit was given to those believers who were gathered with Peter in Jerusalem, also known as Pentecost. It is traditional to eat dairy foods during this feast. The Torah is likened to milk, as the verse says, “Like honey and milk [the Torah] lies under your tongue” (Song of Songs 4:11). Another tradition is to read the Book of Ruth as the setting for Ruth is the barley harvest time. Shavu’ot is one of the times that we take Communion together as a congregation. *** Please bring dairy foods, fruits or nuts or other sweets for our special Shavuot oneg.

Adat Shalom 5.8.26 "Little Known Women in Paul's Ministry"

This upcoming Sunday is Mother's Day, and I thought I would take the opportunity to not only honor all the Moms, but all the godly women among us that serve so diligently in the body of Messiah. So this Friday I'm going to share a special message titled, "The Important yet "little known" Women in the Life and Ministry of Paul." When Paul wrote his "inspired" letters, he often took time to send greetings and special words of appreciation to fellow workers in the ministry, who co-labored with him diligently in the sharing of the gospel. Many of these faithful servants were women, who both served in the church as well as ministered to Paul personally. So this Friday we are going to look briefly at some of these "little known" women to whom Paul would give honor, praise, and great appreciation. So come join us for this Friday's special evening service beginning at 7:30 P.M. We will have joyful worship, a special Torah devotional, a special Mother's Day message, and warm food and fellowship at the close of our services. Looking forward to a wonderful time of worship and fellowship with all of you.

Adat Shalom 5.1.26
"Messiah's Triumphal Entry" Mark 11:1-11

We've had a wonderful month of holidays and special services that began with a great Passover celebration. This week we will be getting back to our exciting teaching series in the book of Mark. Chapter eleven actually begins the second main section of the book which we have titled "the Sacrifice of the Servant" (Chapters 11-16). We begin this chapter with the Messiah approaching Jerusalem for what would be the final week of His ministry. He instructs two of His disciples to go to a nearby village and bring to Him a donkey and her c**t. This c**t, upon which no one had sat, would be His means of arriving in Jerusalem. His arrival in Jerusalem has been called "The Triumphal Entry", as He was embraced by the people who honored Him by laying down their garments and mats made of palm branches for Jesus to trod upon (11:8-9). There were those who shouted "Hosanna" (save now), as well as the phrase from the Psalms, "Blessed is He who comes in the name of the LORD" (Ps. 118:26). Matthew's gospel points out that this event was in fulfillment of a prophecy concerning the coming of the Messianic King (Zechariah 9:9). Please don't miss this message on Friday as we study Jesus' grand entry into Jerusalem, and have a special study on the characteristics of Messiah's first coming. Come join us for erev Shabbat services beginning at 7:30 P.M. We will have uplifting worship, a special Torah teaching, our message in Mark, and warm food and fellowship at the close of our service. Hope to see you there.
