It is with Godly judgment, our Bishop, The Senior Bishop of the AME Zion Church, Bishop Darryl B. Starnes, Sr. through prayer and fasting, has appointed me to a new charge.
We are excited, thrilled, and overjoyed yet, sad.
For the past 12 years, being the pastor of Humphreys Chapel AME Zion Church has been a blessing to me and my family.
The year Bishop George E. Battle appointed me to this congregation was one of the most difficult years of my life. My mother had transitioned to be with the Lord, and during that season of grief, Bishop Battle spoke words that I have never forgotten: "You need something else to do."
What seemed like a simple statement became a divine appointment.
God used Humphreys Chapel to help heal a hurting preacher.
And I pray that since that time, I have served you with love, dignity, and respect.
know that Humphreys Chapel AME Zion Church will always be remembered in our prayers.
Your names are written on our hearts.
Your kindness has touched our family.
Your faith has inspired us.
Your love has strengthened us.
And wherever we are, we will thank God for the privilege of having served among you.
In the Bible, the number 12 symbolizes completeness. Our work is complete in this charge.
Please join us 10am tomorrow for my final sermon.
To God be the Glory, for the Great things He has done.
Rev. George D. Allen, Jr., Jessica, and Jelani .
