🔥 Sunday Highlight- Jesus The Blueprint: Greatness Upside Down🔥
The "Upside Down" Definition
We're so used to the world’s definition of greatness, that it’s all about titles, rank, who has the most followers, and who holds the most power. Even in the church, we sometimes accidentally adopt that same mindset. Jesus totally flips this. In the Kingdom of God, greatness isn't measured by how many people serve you, but by how many people you serve.
Greatness Requires Surrender: Using the story of James and John in Mark 10 asking for the best seats, Jesus didn't scold them for wanting to be great, he corrected how they defined it. Real greatness requires a "cross" meaning you have to be willing to lay down your own selfish agenda.
Identity First, Service Second: A really practical point made is that Jesus could wash the disciples' feet, which was a dirty, servant-level job, because he was completely secure in who he was. When you aren't secure in your identity, you feel like serving is beneath you, or you feel like you have to have a title to be "somebody." When your identity is healed, serving becomes a natural tool to love others, not a threat to your ego
Management vs. Leadership: The distinction that management is about tasks, but true leadership is about modeling love and service. You can’t truly lead if you’re only focused on being the boss; you have to be willing to roll up your sleeves.
Ultimately, it’s a conversation about checking your ego. If you find yourself constantly needing validation, craving titles, or getting offended when you aren't recognized, it might be a sign that your identity is tied to the wrong things.
The goal is to get to a place where you are so secure in who you are that you can "stoop" to help anyone, anywhere, without needing a crowd to applaud you for it 🔥
