Join us Sunday, September 6, for a one-night lakeside retreat filled with feasting, games, a raffle, an auction, fellowship, and ceremonies honoring our Gods.

Back in May, Friðr Folk Kindred gathered for our sixth annual Midsummer’s Eve celebration at Scarborough Renaissance Faire.

It was a full day of fellowship, laughter, shared food, raised horns, and time spent strengthening the bonds that hold a kindred together.

Tradition is not something meant to sit untouched in a book. It lives when people gather, celebrate, tell stories, build friendships, and create memories that will be carried forward.

Thank you to everyone who joined us and helped make the day what it was.

Six years of gathering. Six years of growing. And we are only getting started.

A belated look back at Midsummer’s Eve.

Back in May, Friðr Folk Kindred gathered for our sixth annual Midsummer’s Eve celebration at Scarborough Renaissance Faire.

It was a full day of fellowship, laughter, shared food, raised horns, and time spent strengthening the bonds that hold a kindred together.

Saw this come across my feed and it brings up a great point often debated in our community.

Keeping our oaths is of course a noble idea generally speaking, but there are exceptions. This idea often comes up when people try to compare Odin to Loki to justify Loki worship by saying that Odin is also a deceiver. The difference is that Odin deceives only his enemies, not the people he shares frith with.

Another example is that generally speaking marriage is an oath you should never break. But what about when your partner doesn't uphold their end of the bargain to love honor and cherish you? Maybe they take you for granted and begin to cheat on you, or drink or do drugs and abuse you and your children, for a long time and with no desire to change their harmful behavior. In a situation like this the behavior of the other person voids the oath because they have essentially already broken it. How can one uphold an already broken oath?

In short, your relationship to the other party and their behavior play a key role in how an oath should be interpreted.

What a beautiful and powerful second annual meditation retreat we had for Hexenacht! We arrived and after making an offering to the friendly land spirits, we toured the historic fort surrounding our campsite and learned all about the things that happened there.

After a shared lunch and good fellowship bonding with our Folk, we moved into a deep meditation workshop filled with drums, singing bowls, mindfulness practices, and powerful rune galdr. The energy was palpable.

We then held a heartfelt blót to Freyja, seeking her blessings as we approach the fullness of summer. Songs were sung, offerings made, and hearts opened.

The evening closed with a delicious pulled pork feast and a final offering to the ancestors—sealing the night in frith and gratitude.

It was a truly restorative and spiritually enriching gathering. Everyone left with full hearts and renewed connection to the Gods, the land, and each other.

We’re already looking forward to sharing more communion and joy at our upcoming May Day celebration!

Friðr Folk Kindred Texas gathered at Dinosaur Valley State Park to welcome the coming of spring and honor Lady Ostara.

Beneath the open sky we raised the horn, gave thanks for the returning light, and shared fellowship among kin and friends.

As the wheel turns and the days grow longer, the land begins to awaken once more.
