The Dream-
-The Holy City covenant group is a community of people who are:
writing songs for worship
designing/creating/writing bold, imaginative liturgy in all its aspects (music, visuals, dance, choral reading, drama)
planning ways for liturgy to inspire action
leading liturgies on periodic Sunday evenings that don’t compete with local churches but supplement their current work
The Source of This Inspiration-
-the work of the Wild Goose Resource Group (WGRG) of the Iona Community
This was originally a group of 16 who gathered to do the things listed above. Their song writing, liturgical writing and service planning were all collaboratively done and tested out in evening events they called HOLY CITY. The energy of the group came from its commitment to provide worship resources and worship/learning/action events that spoke plainly and boldly, without clichés. The work of the WGRG has led to the publication of dozens of resources that are now staples of worship in many churches in North America and the United Kingdom.
