A man convicted of first-degree murder says he was once facing the death penalty while following Islam and Moorish beliefs. In a moment of desperation, he dropped to his knees inside his prison cell and cried out to Jesus.

Not long after, his death sentence was overturned. Still behind bars, he now serves as the prison's Christian community facilitator — preaching, teaching, and leading fellow inmates in their faith.

He described the moment simply: he cried out to Jesus, and Jesus answered. Despite his circumstances, he says this season is the best time he's ever known in his entire life.
