If you are dealing with Grief /SUICIDAL THOUGHTS plz read. Long post! Yesterday, I was feeling frustrated because my dryer had broken down, forcing me to make a trip to the laundromat. It bothered me because I am currently on vacation, and I believed I shouldn't have to deal with this inconvenience. I jokingly blamed the devil for breaking my dryer. Surprisingly, my son decided to accompany me as he also needed to do his laundry.
As we sat there waiting for our laundry, an elderly Caucasian lady approached the laundromat with her walker. Unfortunately, the place lacked handicap access, making it difficult for her to enter. Observing her struggle, my son went outside to assist her. In gratitude, she referred to my son, Joseph Mitchell, as an angel. We continued to help her, and during our interaction, she confided in us about her recent loss of her last living sibling. She expressed feeling hopeless and even contemplated taking all her pain pills to end her life, believing no one would care. Despite her faith in Christ, she felt alone without any remaining family.
Moved by her tears 😭 I began to give her words of encouragement and minister to her, emphasizing that she still had a purpose on this earth. I also suggested ways for her to get involved with the local senior's recreation center. Her spirit was lifted, and she expressed gratitude for our conversation. It is important to note that studies indicate higher su***de rates during the holiday season, particularly when individuals are dealing with grief and everyday struggles. Reflecting on this encounter, I realized that my initial complaint about going to the laundromat had unexpectedly led me to minister to this lady and potentially prevent a su***de attempt.
This experience reminded me that wherever we find ourselves, it is not by chance, but rather by divine intention. Happy Thanksgiving week, let us make each day great!
