Viola “Mother” Fletcher, the oldest known living survivor of the Tulsa Race Massacre, has passed away.

Mother Fletcher was a living monument to our history, our grief, and our fight. A century after the flames of Greenwood, she stood before Congress and demanded reparations, recognition, and repair.

She spent her life reminding America of the truth it tried to forget and urging us to build a future worthy of the lives lost and the legacy she protected.

Rest well, Mother Fletcher.

Congratulations on this well deserved recognition to The Honorable Daniel Altman, City of Mesquite, Texas.

Congratulations to Dr. Angel Rivera, Superintendent of Schools, @ Mesquite ISD on this well deserved recognition! The Prayer Lady Ministries International was honored to present both of you with The Distinguished Educator Lifetime Leadership Award (DELLA).

On behalf of Mesquite Texas City Hall- Mayor Dan Alemán, Mesquite Texas City Hall - District 2 Councilmember Kenny Green attended the inaugural Educator Awards Appreciation Ceremony and Luncheon on Nov. 4 hosted by The Prayer Lady Ministries International. With this event, the organization honored teachers and civic leaders for the difference they make in the lives of young people.

Mayor Alemán was honored with a Distinguished Educator Lifetime Leadership Award (DELLA) for "distinguished leadership and commitment to excellence in enriching the community." At the Nov. 6 City Council meeting, Councilmember Green presented the award to Mayor Alemán.

Thank you, The Prayer Lady Ministries International, for this honor, and congratulations to the many Mesquite ISD educators and to Superintendent Ángel Rivera who also received DELLA recognitions!
