Bring your backpacks and your water!

Join us for our annual Backpack Blessing and Water Communion as we gather to bless the journeys ahead, celebrate the places we’ve been, and carry a little love with us into the year ahead.

And then stay after worship for fellowship and fun! Wear clothes you don’t mind getting wet and a backpack to be blessed. We can’t wait to celebrate with you!

Join us this Sunday as we celebrate the start of a new school year! During worship, students of all ages are invited to bring their backpacks for a special Backpack Blessing as we send them into the year with love, encouragement, and our community's support.

After the service, stick around for a Family Water Day! Everyone is welcome to join the fun. Wear or bring clothes you don't mind getting wet (and maybe a little messy!) as we cool off together with water games, reusable water "balloons", water blasters, snow cones, and more.

We're especially hoping for a spirited kids vs. adults water battle- so if you're an adult who's willing to become a target (or fight back!), come prepared to get soaked!

Light snacks and snow cones will be provided, and you're welcome to bring a favorite snack to share if you'd like.

Come celebrate the beginning of a new year with blessings, laughter, and plenty of water

Cooking up some fun at the GMUUC 2026 culinary camp! This week we are learning about values of Love, Interdependence, Justice, Transformation, and Generosity while we develop our cooking skills like measuring, mixing, slicing, squeezing and whipping!

All tomatoes and basil grown organically and sustainably by Emily Cook with Legacies Peace Center. Emily led an interactive session entitled “Nothing Grows Alone.” The kids explored how fruits and vegetables depend on countless relationships (from healthy soil, worms, pollinators, sunshine, and rain to the farmers, families, and communities) that help bring food to our tables.

Using fresh produce as a hands-on storytelling tool to help the kids discover the connections between one another and the earth, they talked about gratitude, reducing food waste, and caring for creation (all age-appropriate, of course!), while introducing the idea that taking care of the earth is also taking care of each other, and how those are deeply connected.

After the presentation, the kids were able to take seed packets home so they could plant and share the story with their family.
