Ash Wednesday marks the beginning of Lent, a season traditionally set aside for reflection, repentance, and renewed devotion to God. In Joel chapter 2, we are invited to “Return to the Lord your God” — and so we invite you to begin this season together with your fellow disciples of Jesus as we join for worship on Wednesday evening.

Please join us for our celebration of the birth of Jesus this evening where we will sing many of your favorite Christmas hymns and you’ll hear the story of how God has kept and continues to keep his promises to us. This will be our first Christmas celebration in our new ministry center and we would love to share it with you!

1700 years ago, about 300 bishops gathered in the town of Nicaea (a Greek city in Asia Minor) to formalize our understanding of our God, His nature, and His relationship to us through what would become known as the Nicene Creed. In recognition of this major event in the history of the Christian Church, the members of St. Peter Lutheran Church would like to invite you to an interactive seminar to be held on our campus on Saturday, October 11, with the theme, “The Early Church’s Creed Still Speaks and Shapes Us!”

Our seminar will be led by the Rev. Dr. David Maxwell, Professor of Doctrinal Theology at Concordia Seminary, St. Louis, who will guide us through a series of presentations and group discussions that will help us to comprehend what this Creed has to say to us today, and how it can help us express our faith in today’s culture. You can read more about Dr. Maxwell here: https://www.csl.edu/directory/david-maxwell/

The seminar will begin at 9:00 AM (with registration beginning at 8:15 AM) and conclude by 2:30 PM. Registration is $15.00 per person, which includes lunch and refreshments during breaks. If you worship regularly at St. Peter, please be sure to sign up for this event on the form table across from the church office.

Everyone else - for more information and to register online, please visit: https://stpeter-lutheran.org/events/nicene-creed-seminar/ We hope to see you on October 11.

It has been several years since we had Praise in the Park at Hancock Park. ConnectAbility is excited to bring this worship opportunity back to our beautiful community as we celebrate God and all His “wonderfully and extraordinarily” created children. The band consists of a group of worship leaders from many area churches who are extremely talented and truly love to share the Good News of Jesus! In addition, you’ll also get to talk with and hear inspirational stories and testimonies from some of our very gifted ConnectAbility children and adults. Bring your chair, a picnic (or purchase one from Mosaic, flowers from Lacey Creative Designs, and snacks from The Bridge), and join us for a worship experience you won’t forget!
