1700 years ago, about 300 bishops gathered in the town of Nicaea (a Greek city in Asia Minor) to formalize our understanding of our God, His nature, and His relationship to us through what would become known as the Nicene Creed. In recognition of this major event in the history of the Christian Church, the members of St. Peter Lutheran Church would like to invite you to an interactive seminar to be held on our campus on Saturday, October 11, with the theme, “The Early Church’s Creed Still Speaks and Shapes Us!”
Our seminar will be led by the Rev. Dr. David Maxwell, Professor of Doctrinal Theology at Concordia Seminary, St. Louis, who will guide us through a series of presentations and group discussions that will help us to comprehend what this Creed has to say to us today, and how it can help us express our faith in today’s culture. You can read more about Dr. Maxwell here: https://www.csl.edu/directory/david-maxwell/
The seminar will begin at 9:00 AM (with registration beginning at 8:15 AM) and conclude by 2:30 PM. Registration is $15.00 per person, which includes lunch and refreshments during breaks. If you worship regularly at St. Peter, please be sure to sign up for this event on the form table across from the church office.
